So i lowered rear alittle more the other day and did free travel mod. Thanks Justin:Handshake:!!! But truck handled very poorly and swayed bad in rear due to sway bar being way out of alignment. I don't have DJMs rear hardware kit with trailing arm relocators or shorter end links. So came up with a very cheap and easy fix.

Went to junk yard and picked up some rear links off a 00' Escalade and a 99' burban, and they are about perfect. Measured them compared to DJMs rear links and about 3/4" shorter then theres, so not a big difference. I installed them and it got my sway bar horizontal with ground. Had to go to hardware store for long bolts, spacers and nuts to make it work on passenger side, and relocate sway bar bracket over on driver side. I also cut my front sway bar links about an inch and really made the front end tighter also.

It now handles amazingly!!! No swaying, no bottoming out, rides and handles absolutely amazing now and feels almost like stock. Still want to get the DJM rear hardware kit, but don't feel a huge need for it right now as it isn't hitting any metal, no bottoming out, and absolutely no swaying front or rear over bumps. Was a great, easy and way cheaper method of lowering the rear sway bar links so they actually do what they should.

So anybody looking for a cheaper method of getting better handling out of there lowered SUV and they don't have the rear hardware kit. Go get some shorter links from a junk yard!!

Like I said, I got mine off a 00' Escalade and a 99' suburban and they worked perfectly. Hope it helps anybody looking to do this cheaper.

I believe they are McGaughy's. Why?

He's probably asking because they are the roughest 5" coils out there, also have the least amount of drop (really like 4.5" at best).
They did make your truck look better, I like the way it sits!
Good write up also, if I new this when I got mine I would have done the same.

ya I've heard that. Didn't get me as low as I thought it would've, but diffenently sits better now. It rides actually really good, but guess I don't know the difference. How much for just 5" rear coils?

WOW!! Can't seem to justify 2bills for 1 inch right now. Wuld love that inch and if it is what you say it is, be nice for a even better ride quality. But I gotta say, right now with my setup of McGaughys drop spindles and McGaughys 5" coils with lowered shocks, bump stops removed, and the links I made. My Tahoe is feeling really, really good. The quality of the suspension travel, feel over bumps and actual all around package is feeling absolutely amazing right now. Along with the way it is handling over bumps, around corners and in general, I really have no complaints.
But would love to know the difference for myself in the feel of DJMs coils compared to McGaughys.

i install mcgaughys locally as well as belltech and djm. Honestly all 5 inch springs ie djm for the tahoe and the mcgaughys ride sucks. You use the djm 4" tb springs like ive been doing since late 2002 when djm came out with the tb kit your ride will be better than stock and 10x better then what you have now but as long as you rhappy with the ride now your set.
