Engine code P0449

this is exactly what two seperate dealerships have told me...i guess it could all depend on the dealership or the service manager...

did mine the other day myself, not to bad at all. part was 36 bucks, would be cool if i could get that back if it is under warranty.

Cool where did you get the part from? Maybe a link or something by chance. Where exactly is the vent valve located at? I have crawled under and looked but I have not seen anything really

I just had the P0449 code pop up on my '07 with 71k miles on it yesterday. I have a warranty until 75k so I'm sure it will be covered....but a $50 deductible.

I'll probably just let the dealership worry about it....The only other thing that I've used my warranty for thus far is to replace the transmission cooling lines...they were leaking up near the tranny cooler/radiator.

Mine has popped this code twice in the last month. I reset it and it stays off for a couple of weeks but comes back. Once the weather gets warm I will be replacing it myself. No reason to pay almost $300 for a $35 part
And 15 minutes of time.

No kidding....little ridiculous how much the dealerships want to fix this crap... If I was out of warranty there's no way in hell I'd have the dealership do it. The replacement is very simple....the hardest part is getting the spare tire down. Ha....

can anyone post a picture and maybe some detailed instructions on how to do it? I've had my check engine light on for about 6 months now and i'd really like to just fix it myself if the part is only $35 and it takes only 15 minutes to do.

What year is your truck?

The part number is listed along with a picture of the old and new part. All you have to do is drop the spare tire and the part is right there. Disconnect the electrical connection and the two hose connections, take out the single bolt on top of the support bracket, and then install the new one just the same as you removed the old one. Super simple once you get under there and look at it.

Bringin' this thread back to life

Looks like my 07 Tahoe felt left out and decided to join the P0449 club. Check engine light came on last night, plugged the code reader in this morning and got code P0449. I tried clearing and it won't clear. I thought maybe by small chance it was because I only had 1/8 tank of gas (or less) so I filled up and tried to clear it again. This time it flashed off and then came back on after a second. Now I had no problem filling up as some have said in this thread (or another I read). CEL is the only thing on, my tighten gas cap is not on. I want to get it taken care off asap because this is causing my remote start to not work and up here in upstate NY it's C-O-L-D.

So I'm guessing it's either the sensor or the gas cap. Which would you guys start with? Or am I just better off doing both?
Second, should I get the updated sensor or the original one?
