Locking Rear diff question

I was reading my window sticker and the sticker says I have 3.73s with a locking rear diff. My buddy with a '02 Silverado said he has a one wheel wonder, his truck is a 4x4, cloth interior, nothing special...
So does anyone know if the locking rear differential an option and if so what trim packages did it come with. My truck is an '01 Tahoe LT package. Or do all tahoes and yukons came with them?

not sure about the tahoes or yukons but my dads 05chevy truck came with a stock locker as well.

just jack up the rear and spin a tire, if the opposite tire turns the opposite way u dont have a locker, if it spins the same way u do.

I don't think these trucks had a factory "locker" option. I believe it is the limited slip gov lock unit. Which is for the most part a limited slip(it has clutches) but has a lock of some sort but that is only supposed to work at low speeds, if it works at all. My 04 tahoe lt has this option, it is the G80 RPO code found in your glove box. sometimes it will lock fully at low speeds, but usually just acts like a limited slip. Check the glove box for the RPO codes, it should help you figure it out

its not a true locker but thats what gm wanted to call it... it called the traction package, Traction Assist, 3:73's, Tow hooks, and a few other things that i cant remeber off the top of my head

friends 01 Hoe has open end rear my 03 Kon has the G80 makes a big diff in 4wd to with the G80

It is actually a true locker, but locks only when wheel speed difference is 100 RPM's and will comepletely unlock after 25MPH. You have to be easy when locking it, because any sudden and constant harsh throttle inputs to lock it WILL GRENADE the locker and render it useless. My locker has 120K miles and still works PERFECTLY, even when 1 rear tire is in the air!
