i ordered some off ebay, and i know u get what you pay for but the ranged from like 60-130$ so i kinda split the difference and got some sub-par lights i contacted the seller and he tried to make it right by sending me another light but the other one broke. i decided just to send them both back for a refund..
my question are these being knocked off? if i buy the 130$ lights will the be better quality? they looked the same but the plastic was brittle and the lights were cracked, wires were hot glued in and even pulled out on one light..
looking to get some kind of bumper light and i really like the idea of the leds but dont want something that will last a week.
This has been answered in above i believe, but heres my .02 cents, and experience. since ive helped out a few other members since i got mine, about 5 months ago or so. No issues at all. Only noticed that one drl led went out, but thats my mistake.
There is another member on here, hasnt been on in awhile, but he got the 60 buck ones and was terrible quality. The resistor (black box) was open and full of sand, the wires were torn out, stripped per say, wouldnt light up. So i think the cheaper ones are just problem childs and they send them out thinking most wont say anything and just fix em. Because honestly they are all the same quality. He sent me pics of his and the writing is the same, the backing, the leds, all of it. Just being mass produced some are going to get messed up, defective, and the companies just try to sell those. Some may not knowingly do it, but surely they know something, b/c to me how could you sell something that is all over ebay/ net for 130 or so, and then your selling for 60 bucks. Somethings fishy. So reading your post again, yes cheaper is what you get, i dont think cheaper made, just issues, but could be a knock off as you said. I dont know.
But i got mine from motorblvd on ebay for 110 and have had no problems to the day. Just a drl light going out, but thats my fault. Just make sure when you get them, the socket gets plugged in to the led light and then push in just like you would if you were putting in the bulb. (i didnt do that, hence the light out, it rained
) but after that no problems at all. I havent siliconed mine yet, as polo mentioned, but its not a bad idea. I still need to. Also, not sure if said it, i have had mine for i think about 5 months with no problems. Love them. I have the amber ones w/ white drl.
And just for more assurance, i just bought my brother some hyperwhite ones, like polo has, cant remember from who, i think streettune, very very nice lady i was dealing with. made sure to send me all information, never missed a email i sent or anything. And for quality, it is the same as mine are. No problems, went right in plug and play and work like a charm. Going on i guess about a month, or same as polo, got them at around the same time. I believe he has had no issues either. But i got mine for around the $120 - $130 range.
So i would say, dont let one problem make you not get them. I love them, look so much better than the regular ones and look awesome at dusk w/ the fogs on only.
