This error came up on my dash a week or two ago. Didn't really bother me because it went away after driving for a bit. But then, on the way home from school, everything started shutting down one by one, like the radio and HVAC controls...lights were all dim, wipers moved slowly. So I pulled over at a gas station and had it towed.

Dealer calls and says it was battery, which I thought was weird since I have a YellowTop, but I exchanged it at AutoZone and this one works fine. Everything seemed great. But the problem came back today. Except this time it didn't kill the battery, everything ran fine but it still showed the message.

Can't be the alternator, I wouldn't think, as I have already had that replaced. So what else could it be? Is it possible I have a really bad wiring issue?

I have a yellow top as well and this has happened before, did you get an extended warranty on the battery or do they always take it back?

Mine has an extended warranty, but they may exchange them anyways.

You have to show a receipt? I got mine at autozone as well. Wonder if they have it in the comp system...

Zach, it appears you have been zapped by the dreaded GM power management system. Sorry to have to say this but it is something that needs to be hooked up to the stealership equipment. Hopefully a code will show up but doubtful. You have done everything right by using the Yellow Top but the way the system was designed it just doesn't charge the battery as much as it should so we are all constantly draining the battery bit by bit. The only way I have found to beat this is to put the battery on a charger about once a month and let it get a deep cycle charge. Good Luck!

Thanks for the helpful info! I was thinking, is it possible that it's related to my iPod kit? Ever since I installed it, my temperature/compass part of my mirror doesn't work and the backlighting to my liftgate button went out (yet the button still works). Weird things. I'll uninstall it today to see if it helps.

I have a 2009 LTZ and I was getting this warning once in a while. My Tahoe only goes on short 20 min trips to and from work, so I am assuming its not getting a long enough run to charge up the battery. about 8 months ago I upgraded the battery from the stock GM one to a bluestar 770cca battery. The warning went away, but just came back the other day. I may hook up a trickle charger to it.

Thank you for the reply.

So what causes the warning?

A electrical bug or is the battery really dies.
