I have an '02 Tahoe LT with the Autoride suspension. The compressor has died. Near the end, it was running quite often. This led me to believe that the absorbers and the compressor were dead. I went to a nearby dealership today and they gave me a quote on replacement parts.

15254590 - Compressor: 565.19
22187156 - Absorber: 2 x 634.16

I saw some after market parts that were MUCH cheaper. On amazon, I saw one compressor for ~$160. What is the difference in these parts? Should I go OEM for reliability? Thanks for the info!!

They look to be the correct parts. I am going to take my chances on the $160 compressor too if that is indeed the problem. Mine just quit working. I checked and I have voltage back to the compressor but haven't gotten any further than that. Are you getting any service messages? The only thing I am getting intermittently is a service stability system.

I have not gotten any messages at all. That could mean the sensors in the absorber are ok. Who knows. But the correct course of action would be the compressor first. At least, for me. I heard the compressor "going". It sounded worse and worse until it stopped working altogether.

+1 to Sasquatch.

That was probably me that you got the site from, since I have both the compressor and Arnott/Bilstein replacement air shocks from them. Price is great, customer service is great. I too was completely shocked (ha!) at the price of the OEM stuff, and frankly couldn't afford it, but I found these guys and have been pleased.

So you got these replacement parts. Were they a direct replacement for the OEM shocks/compressor? Do the absorbers plug directly in to the truck electronics? I thought I read somewhere that the compressor from GM was a new configuration that was more water proof. Any other thoughts on your experience? Thanks!

Everything just fits/plugs right in. The only difference, if you get the Bilstein/Arnott shocks, is you lose the auto-dampening feature. It comes with an error eliminator, though, so you don't get any lights flashing. Haven't had any problems with weather, and I live in some crappy weather...lol. The compressor itself isn't a GM compressor at all, but an Arnott built one.

The other option is to get the refurbished GM shocks that Arnott sells, and that maintains full functionality of the auto-ride.
