For the 2010-2012 Tahoe and Yukon, you have the option of the Onstar RemoteLink app to start the car and vehicle diagnostics. So I'm reading this thread http://tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29114 and I have a question for those of you who have done it, who also kept OnStar. Are you able to use the app?

I figured if I have the OnStar VCIM from a 2010-2012 Yukon/Tahoe, you should be able to...

So for those who have swapped VCIM's for Bluetooth, and been able to keep OnStar from customer serivce, has anyone tried RemoteLink?

There is a member on here that had a VCIM from like a traverse or something and he could still use the onstar app. Just onstar saw his car as a traverse instead of what it really is.

I want to do this mod down the road aswell!

I did the swap to my 08 tahoe using a vcim from a 2010 traverse and everything including the onstar remote app is fully functional. Onstar just thinks i have a traverse.

Did you have to tell onstar a different vin #? Or they just saw it was a traverse when you called them up? Any part numbers for this? Thanks

You shouldn't need to tell them the vin from the donor vehicle, they should see it as soon as you call in. And I'm not 100% sure but I think the vcim changed in 2012 along with the factory radio, so all the plugs are different. Just a heads up as I don't think they will work. And the part number I used is 20829984

I see there are brand new ones on eBay. If I were to buy a brand new one does it have to be flashes by a dealer or is it good to go right out of the package?

The only ones I've seen on ebay are ones for 2012, and as far as I know they will not work on 07-11 as they have different plugs. If you did find a brand new never installed vcim, then yes I'm pretty sure it would need to be programed by a dealer as it would have no info in it.

Oh ok yeah I guess they were 2012. Does the dealer give ya any hassle to flash a vcim that's not the correct one for that certain vehicle?
