Wife got into our 2011 Tahoe after being parked outside in the rain and discovered water leaking out of the seam in the oval piece above the passenger side seatbelt.

Need to take it to the dealership. But does Anyone know how the water is getting in?

Could it be coming from the roof rack? I installed the Esky rack a few months back. however It's rained a few times already before yesterday when this happened.

Damn, so I'll have to take the whole rack off. The only way it could be getting in is thru the screw holes. Do the holes go straight thru? What's the remedy for this? Silicone?

You used all the holes to mount the rack right?

I mean the Escalade rack has the same mounting holes as the stock rack right?

Yes, all the same holes. And used all the same bolts including the plastic retainer on the middle bolt which holds down the Esky rack That's why it's weird that that much water would be coming thru. That seems silly of GM to design holes that go thru the roof, but I wouldn't put it past them :)

you have a sun roof? Wondering if it could be clogged drains.

Yes I do. Hmm, where would I check that? I keep it pretty clean and its always garaged. But maybe!

Any other ideas?

believe the sun roof would need to be open to check the drains... google "tahoe" and "sunroof drains leaking" or something similar. Im on a govy comp so I am limited as to what I can see/search.

Essentially I had the same problem and caught it before it got too bad or damaged any of my headliner or anything else like that. some run a hanger down the drains (risk ripping the drains but be careful and research) and others have used an air compressor (again very delicately) to blow the drains clear of debris.

Both can be found on the forums or by Google brother. Good luck and be sure to keep us posted on what you find so we can help or so your info can help others in the future!

Absolutely. I googled "tahoe seatbelt leak" but couldn't find anything specific. Just door drains. You bring up a good point on the sun roof. I will research that.
