So I just found out that I was PCSing and got an idea. If the military will pay me to move I was going to buy a enclosed trailer. With this idea I was looking at a 8 1/2x20 or 24ft trailer. Looking to tow around 9k lbs. what is your guys who tow, ur opinion?

I haven't towed a load like that with my Tahoe so can't comment on how it pulls. It sounds like you'll be right at the max tow rating, but with an enclosed trailer you've got some wind resistance as well depending on how high the enclosure is. The main thing is to make sure you have brakes in good working order on the trailer, and that you distribute weight in the trailer to get tongue weight of at least 500 lbs., and maybe 600-700 would be better. You'll need to take it easy and plan ahead on turns and stops.

I have pulled quite a few 6k to 8k trailers with the 07 5.3. The eng does not make very good power but the chassis (suspension) pulls pretty well. I put helper bags on the back and never really needed them. I would suggest trailer brakes because the the brakes absolutely suck.

I have towed a 6k trailer extensively. It is fine on flat land and struggles on extended hilly terrain. I think 9k would be a huge reach.

Well it looks like I'll be adding a bigger trans cooler and a brake controller. And I I'll be taking either wise 40 or 10 west bound. For about 2500 miles. I already drove west to east 3x with a 1993 del sol and a 2003 altima 2x. Hoping with the hoe and trans cooler, brake controller it will not be a bad trip. I figure with a 20 ft v nose the trip won't be as bad on gas. Not that I'll be pYing for it

In the long run you are better off to do a partial dity. Move your large items with the military TMO and take all your clothes, electronics and valuables with you in a smaller trailer. Just make sure you weight it before and after. You'll make the same amount of money if you attempted to move it all, without the ass pain. Been there done that.
