    Dump EFI for Carburetor?

Now that's really cool! Probably be tough finding one of those setups.

    Dump EFI for Carburetor?

I checked on the cost of a new "spider injector" module and was surprised at how reasonable a replacement is. Keeping the EFI (thanks to you'lls feedback), but still not thrilled with that 2 piece pot metal and plastic intake manifold. I will go to Harbor Freight and get my own code reader as...

Yukon Denali amplifier speaker stereo upgrade

IMHO, the only way to get really good sound is to dump the OEM system and go with a new head unit, amp, and speakers. You won't regret it. I recommend Crutchfield, as they make it really easy with their supplied tailored wiring diagrams. You can even get them to pre-wire the harness connectors...

    Dump EFI for Carburetor?

Big thanks for all that maintenance information! So, rather than throwing cash at the fuel delivery system and related sensors, I will go the intelligent route and replace when necessary, using a scanner for guidance. I've already replaced the heating system components and won't even go into...

    Dump EFI for Carburetor?

OK OK, I am convinced! I will keep the EFI, really. So, does anyone have recommendations on what sensors and other parts that should get routinely replaced related to the EFI system with 165K miles? Also, is it time to replace the injectors or just "clean them"? I appreciate any advice as I...

    Dump EFI for Carburetor?

Yes, Eman85, it is my truck, but I don't really know what I want. That's why I am trying to get some info to base my decision on. I do appreciate all of youll's opinions. Thus far the concensus seems to be, "Keep the EFI".. Need a carburetor lover to weigh in here, hahA.

    Dump EFI for Carburetor?

"B" thanks for input. You made several good points. However, the feedback on Edlebrock's newer EVS2 carb is generally good. Electric choke, annular atomization, and pump customization have all but minimized old carb design flaws. Several YouTube folks inform that the electronic trannies only...

    Dump EFI for Carburetor?

Well, guys, thanks for the laugh responses! However, I was hoping for some actual information, specific to the conversion... I'm just an OR RN, not a auto technician. I could really use some first hand knowledge. FYI, the HEI distributor you replace the stock one with, ain't got no points/...

    Dump EFI for Carburetor?

'97 Tahoe, 2 door, 4x4, 5.7L Vortec stock motor, 165K miles. Hello, fellow OBS heap lovers, Like everyone else here, my rig is aging and requiring lots of hoses, sensors, wires/ connectors, and components be replaced... I'm old school and still love the simplicity of carbs over EFI and all...

    Air Bag Clockspring!

East302 you are The Man! I just read your message and saw the wiring diagram you uploaded. That is exactly what I needed. I will be putting in a bypass button this weekend. Good of you to share that wiring manual; much appreciated.

    Exhaust Headers?

That information is exactly what I was looking for, thanks. After, not coming up with any great choices for headers and knowing about willxfs heat gain issue, I have decided to ditch the idea of going to headers. I have a stock Vortec 5.7 and can't see that the little bit of Hp gain ain't worth...

    Air Bag Clockspring!

Sincerely appreciate your reply. For now, I'm going to leave the current clockspring in so the airbag will continue to function. I'm just going to bypass the steering wheel's horn button. At the moment I'm trying to locate which wire exists the steering wheel and sends that momentary negative...

    Air Bag Clockspring!

I seem to be having all sorts of "minor issues with my '97 Tahoe 4x4. I do not have a working horn. I really like having a horn to signal stupid drivers when they are behaving badly. I did all the diagnostic tests and found out the issue is in the steering wheel horn switch. Removed the airbag...

    Exhaust Headers?

I honestly do not know. I typed in the vehicle info they asked for and at the end, the message was, This does not fit your vehicle... I do not have an exhaust wizard where I live. That's why it is imperative to have a set of headers that will slip in and not cause fitment issues that require the...
