    2005 Suburban Connector Identification

2005 absolutely base Suburban. So base it only has one keyhole on the outside of the truck. 343k on the clock. I put in Boston Acoustics speakers several years ago. The new BA speaker has an internal tweeter, so I just disconnected the OEM tweeter and used the midrange connector. Over time the...

    Front Differential a Goner?

2001 GMC Yukon XL SLT 4WD The 4WD has not been engaging. After reading some of the threads on here, I put it up on the stands, started it up and put it in drive with 4WD high engaged. The rear shaft and wheels turn, the front shaft turns, the driver side CV axle does not turn, the passenger...

    Coolant leak - Driver's Side

I've got a set of those multi-sized release tools. Clip it on on the pipe, slide it in, and it's supposed to release. Slide it in...he said. It will release...he said. They work on the fuel lines to the injector rack, anyway. Of course, the fuel lines are out in the open.

Yeah...it's not a simple process. For a DIY guy, probably almost a whole day.

    Coolant leak - Driver's Side

Now that things have dried out, it appears to me that what I thought was a 'shiny tube' was actually just wet plastic. My guess is that the radiator is just cracked on that side. [sigh] I'll need to pull the upper cowl and let it run for a while to see where it's coming from. That's another...

    Coolant leak - Driver's Side

2001 GMC Yukon XL SLT 1500 4WD I've got a coolant leak on the driver's side. It appears to be coming from a small tube on the back side of the radiator. The tube points down. Is there anywhere I can get a good set of images of the radiator so I can figure out what this is? Thanks

    Rusted studs

2001 Yukon XL SLT 1500 4WD Last year we lost the cap off of the right rear wheel. That was before a winter. Yesterday I put it up on stands to do new rotors, calipers and pads. The studs on that wheel are now heavily rusted. There did not appear to be any appreciable rust on the rotor I...

    Rotor recommendation

Vehicle: 2001 Yukon XL 1500 4wd When we lived in New Mexico (2014) I had a set of SSBC 23121AA3L Drilled Slotted Plated Front rotors put on the front end, with SSBC Big Bite pads, thinking that I shouldn't see any significant warp. I have now moved to Idaho, and although we only have one...

    Maintenance at quarter million?

If I get no reading from the sensor, then I'll talk to the repairing dealer. But I'll do everything I can to try to track the problem first, because I don't want to have to drop the tank on this thing again. And thanks for the recommendation. Dealing with this issue has been a hassle.

    Maintenance at quarter million?

This is a Delphi fuel pump assembly for a 2005 Suburban. On top from the right: Fuel lines, fuel sender power connector, Fuel pressure sensor. Now it is possible that it has failed, wires were damaged in repair, etc. in which case I have a warranty issue. I'll put the electronics on it tomorrow...

    Maintenance at quarter million?

That's not a solenoid. That's the fuel tank pressure sensor, part and parcel of the new fuel pump assembly I had installed in September.

    Maintenance at quarter million?

I am aware of the purge solenoid, on the intake manifold. I am aware of the solenoid canister vent valve. I have not so far heard of a solenoid on top of the tank, or seen it in any diagrams. What is it called and what does it do?

    Maintenance at quarter million?

You mean the canister purge solenoid that is on top of the intake manifold? That's already been replaced.

    Maintenance at quarter million?

I detached the vent line at the canister side...no improvement at all. It is frustrating that I can't find diagrams that represent the reality of what I have. The pictures at ALLDATADIY, generally the best I have access to, do not bear any relationship to the reality of what I have under this...

    Maintenance at quarter million?

Canister Purge Valve, Canister, Solenoid Vent and Gas Cap have all recently been replaced. The tank is still hard to fill. Hasn't thrown off another P0442, but that has tended to take some time. I did not replace or clear the hose between the vent and the canister when I did the work, but...

    Maintenance at quarter million?

It's just starting to use a little oil. Less than a quart between changes. I think that the combination of the synthetic and the good filters has done well for us. I have had a seep around the oil pan for years. the kind that collects dust. But it hasn't really caused any problems. Nothing...

    Maintenance at quarter million?

I have recently had a P0442, and extreme difficulty filling the tank for over a year. So I'm trying to fix the evap system, easy stuff first. I've done two intake manifold gaskets on a 2001 Yukon XL recently, so I've got a lot of practice. It was replaced by a dealer about 120k ago, but that...

    Maintenance at quarter million?

2005 Suburban (same as the Yukon XL), 5.3 Flex, 267k I need to keep this another 150k. Recent work: factory water pump and hoses heater hoses charcoal canister, vent and purge valve New OEM shocks at about 200k I'm thinking about redoing brakes...hoses, calipers, pads and rotors. It's...

    Eastern Catalytic

Eastern Catalyic Yeah...I still need to replace the converters on my 2001 Yukon XL. It's a CARB vehicle, so the wrong replacements will apparently still set off the lights (as far as I can tell). The direct fit ones at Rock Auto are a clean $300 less than I can find the Magnaflow ones anywhere...

    Cat Converter and EGR

Vehicle: 2001 Yukon XL -- California vehicle Bought this exactly two years ago today. About 600 miles in the "Service Engine Soon" light came on. The enduring code is P0420...cat converter. Replaced the intake manifold gasket and knock sensors. Overtorqued a sensor and finally got around...

    California Vehicle Issue

2001 Yukon XL 1500 SLT - California vehicle. Titled and operated in New Mexico. This needs a new intake manifold gasket. As opposed to the EGR valve being mounted on the left side of the intake manifold, it sits on its own pedestal mount to the left of the engine. There appears to be a...
