    03 Yukon SLT 5.3 - 4L60E is fried - Best way to sell/dispose??

Lots of folks would go for private sale if it's otherwise clean. Still won't get a lot for it, but someone would be willing to buy it and bring a trailer.

    Rear axle cross compatibility.

Had one out of a gmt900 sitting in the yard for a bit. All the mounts and brakes looked the same. Bought it without a yoke, guy said he had to change the yoke cause it was different. RockAuto lists them as the same universal joint so I'm not sure on that. 3.73 more common in Z71 but available...

Agree completely, best advice in the whole thread. Find a buddy and make some memories together.

    Off Roading with an automatic

That's a lot of miles; certainly more than I have. I can see your logic about breaking parts. It's not how I personally handle training beginners, but I can appreciate it. I prefer to start folks out doing what I would do instead of retraining later and throw a warning to be easy on the...

    Off Roading with an automatic

You're welcome to think what you like. Your continual insistence that I told him to use 4lo all the time comes off as sounding like someone with poor reading comprehension skills. As I stated and reiterated, "where you need 4wd". Of the terrains you listed, the only one I'd choose 4hi would be...

    Off Roading with an automatic

You don't necessarily need it, but it is much easier on your transmission. If you are offroading and in a situation where you need 4wd (which is when i specified to use 4lo - "read my post") you are not going to get anywhere near 40mph. You likely won't see 10mph in that situation. I have...

    Off Roading with an automatic

If you're in 4wd use 4lo regardless of terrain, but if you're in 2wd just use what gear feels comfortable. I would lock it into a gear to save on your transmission either way.

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

I did something I normally don't do - I hired a mechanic. Changed the oil pump o ring in the Tahoe for me. Also did lower ball joints in one truck, passenger ball joints in another truck. They'll be coming back to do driver ball joints and swap axles in my primary work truck from 3.73 to 4.10...

    1k RPM clatter

How many miles on it? Edit - just saw the mileage. Over 200k is around when this seems to often start happening. The knocking at start up is most likely oil pump o ring. Takes it a minute to get primed after it drains off over night. The low rpm clatter I've heard attributed to piston slap...

    Lowering kit delete 05 yukon

My mind is blown. Sure enough RockAuto has lower control arms for coil spring front suspension in an 04 Sierra. Never seen a gmt800 with coils. Very neat.

First Overland / Camping Trip HUGE Success!

We do a fair amount of wheeling. The Land Rover gets used for the more hard core stuff, but if we're camping also then the Tahoe is 100% the way to go. Nice to just drive it places as well. The Rover gets trailered any more.

Oh, duh. I was thinking it only shut down the intake valves for some reason. Long time since I had a DOD motor open.

Only 4 custom length push rods, right? Because only 4 cylinders shut down until you get into the LT motors.

Why is it so impossible to get a gas tank

Look into bulkhead fittings. May need a tube or a check valve on the inside to keep fuel from coming out, but I'd be willing to bed you could plastic weld the old fitting shut and put a bulkhead fitting back beside it. Doubt either mechanic is willing to do that - that would be an at home job...

    DOD Delete Theory

OP, I am excited for the outcome on this. I'm with you - I don't see why it wouldn't work. Lots of folks seem concerned about the ticking lifter having caused damage to the cam, but I doubt that would be the case. Lots of hydraulic lifters out there with ticks that are not wiping their cams...

    Headers on 2001 2500

The 1500 Silverado headers will fit the 2500 Suburban chassis. There are just too many options for them to list all of them in their listing.

catalytic function not clearing (should I do more parts cannon)

Just a PSA to everyone reading - do NOT use eBay injectors even if they are labeled AC Delco and come in the Delco box. Chinese fakes in Delco boxes cost me a motor last year. Stuck open and hydraulic'd the motor on restart, bent a rod.

    4wd to 2wd

Over the summer I did this on an off roading trip after breaking a CV on my Land Rover. I wheeled the rest of the day anyway and the hub did end up separating enough you could see a very noticable lean to the tire when I pulled it on the trailer. When I replaced the hub it has separated more...

Suspension Uogrades: Leveling Kits vs Lift Kits

There's nothing wrong with a leveling kit inherently as long as it's installed well. At 3", you probably want 2" shock extensions which can be had for about $20 on ebay. Did you have a front end alignment done after the 3" keys were installed? Not all alignment shops are created equal. This is...

Partial List of Front Torsion Bars

Pulled a set out of a 99-02 Z71 Silverado once - don't recall the number or exactly which year, may still have them. They were the same number and not marked differently for LH and RH.

    Tahoe TBSS Intake manifold swap

You will need the TBSS fuel rails. Reuse your existing injectors, they fit fine with the TBSS intake and fuel rail Get the Corvette fuel filter to regulate the pressure. This will make your firewall clearance a bit tight for fuel lines, but it works. You'll have to bend the fuel rail inlet up...
