hi all, hoping someone has heard this sound before. i just got this 05 tahoe a few days back, it just snowed here so i went out to "play" and test things out, rpo's say its got a locker mainly wanted to make sure it works.

so if im moving, or from a stop if i spin the tires i hear this zipping sound from what seems like the behind the dash.

im thinking of jacking the back wheels in the air then putting it in gear to see if o can make it happen like that to pin point the sound better.
heres a vid of this noise cause its nothing ive ever heard before. truck has no dummy lights on at all. tc button works.

oh, t/c, this is with t/c off. but if it's left on it still makes the same sounds and does spin the tires.
it does it the first time, not the second, and then does it real loud the third time. other then this i see no other possible issues.

lol, which one of those 5 or 6 sounds is the one?, might be better to redo that on a straight path without all the other rigmarole going on.

for some reason it sounds familiar but cant pin it down from memory, you can pull that front dash trim off, just turn the key on, shift it down to 1st, then grab the edge of it with your fingers and pull and it will come right off and then take off two screws on the bottom piece under steering column and pull the bottom trim off and you will be able to see and hear better where it is coming from much easier, that will take like 2 minutes

I patched mine up with some rubber hose before, those lines don't hold a lot of pressure easy fix

new vid with the back wheels off the ground, i took off the cluster trim but cant pin point the sound.

seems like its stability control related. the first few times is with it on, then you hear the ding is when i turned it off and did a few more revs, might be normal? cant tell cause all my other trucks were w/t pick ups with none of this t/c crap.

little update, the clang when it hits the locks is gone now. was poking around trying to narrow it down just could not see/hear directly where it was from. so for fun i checked my p/s fluid and it was low, like really low, yet the steering was like butter brakes worked fine, no whine from it either, topped it off and the clang went away, odd i figured, maybe its just to damn cold out i thought. its broke single digits and hit low 40's today, still dont make the clang. p/s fluid has remained full, no idea where that went, figured id find a leak off a wet hose, but its all dry looking.

first post with the zip sound under the dash is still there, also happens in 4wd when you spin em free in snow, tc on or off, stops after a few seconds of spinning. tires seem to spin to much for tc being on.

my regal with tc on in the snow the damn thing wont move if the wheels spin free, hits the rev limiter deal and does nothing. (in reality i know tc cuts timing so it falls on its face. no idea if thats what the tahoe does) hit a hill it stops moving all together, till you turn it off and allow wheel spin.

no dummy lights at all on either. seems like stability controls faulty, gonna need a scan i guess to know more on that possibility.
