Changing battery and air filter today. Hooked up 12 standby power while battery was unhooked but after I put the new air filter in I turned on the key to get mileage with the MAF unhooked. Now I see the service engine light on, also see the oil pressure was reading high on the first drive, that looks ok after a shut down and restart but I'm a little afraid to drive it at this point. Will this fix itself after so many starts? Is there a procedure to reset this?

It'll reset after it tests itself a few times with ignition cycles. Not sure how many it takes, but it shouldn't be all that many. It should be safe to drive. Cycle the ignition in the driveway a few times.

You can reset it with a code scanner but that might reset some of the monitors.

It fixed itself. Took 5 restarts looks like. I need to be more careful when I do stuff to that machine. Probably need to get a scanner for this newer OBD sys. too. Son has a 2017 Sierra with the same drivetrain as the Tahoe. (See new post)
