I am hoping someone here can help because the local shops are stumped. I am getting a squeak from, I believe, the left front brake. The squeak only occurs when the brake pedal is depressed. There is no evidence on the rotor or anything visible of any contact. The squeak is not consistent. It is there at one stop sign but gone at the next. Any thoughts or ideas? It is starting to drive my wife up a wall and in turn drive me up a wall.

Make sure the pads are have grease on the back of the pads. Also, what kind of pads are you running. I know that on volvo's( thats what i work on) you cant run most aftermarket brakes cause they will cause squeeking.

Any high speed stops or heating up the brake too much can cause glazing to the pads and rotors which will cause squeeking and squealing too.
