receiver hitch for 2015+

I have a few ball mount, hitch receivers with different balls for stuff I tow, from previous generations of GM Full size truck & Suburban that I've owned. None of these work well on my 2015. I realize the hitch is now kind of behind the bumper instead of below it, and I think that is the issue I'm up against. It just sucks that the 5 ball mount, hitch receivers I currently have will not work. The most drop I had previously was about 5-6" and that is not enough on the 2015. Trailer mfg all shoot for that ~17" ball height when building trailers. What amount of drop are most people using on a stock 2015+ to match up to the common standard hitch height of ~17"???

I feel your pain, on mine I had to get a 9 inch drop to use my utility trailer, it was a combo bike and trailer hitch, I am able to mount the ball higher up for different height trailers by pulling the pins that hold it in. On mine, the truck looks to be a little jacked up from the rear.

Thanks for the post. That amount of drop is what I'm seeing too, and it seems like a huge drop, given that this Yukon is not lifted. I've only seen that large amount of drop used before on a lifted vehicle. I guess moving the hitch that much is the culprit. Guess I have to buy all new receivers/ball mounts to tow with this thing.

Had to do that on my 2017.. i bought an adjustable hitch that goes down to 10" drop. The problem is finding a reasonably priced model. I have a Mastercraft boat that goes over 6000lbs loaded.. so i need 8k -10k tow rating on my hitch. Prices were around $250 for that. I ended up buying 3 separate ones for under $100.

Just bit the bullet on a new hitch. I've got a handful of hitches already, but none of them have enough drop to level a trailer. I've been watching this one online for awhile now and the only price I've ever seen for it was $309. Etrailer must have this as part of their Black Friday special as today the price came down to $247. Still more than I ever wanted to pay for a hitch.. but with any luck this will be the last hitch I'll ever buy for this vehicle.

I got the hitch yesterday and did a test fit this morning. This is exactly what I was looking for. Fit and finish is amazing and looks to be extremely well made.
Added bonus, the box it came in fits perfectly under the floor in the rear cargo area. Always ready for a tow.

I’ve got a similar adjustable hitch made by the same company and LOVE IT! My does not have the tongue weight scale but has a 2” and 2 5/16” ball set up. They’re not cheap but they should not rust and should work on any trailer/vehicle combination most recreational guys run across now and in the future.
