So, I recently had a service 4wd light come on my 2001 chevy tahoe. When i tried toggleing between 2hi to 4hi or auto 4wd it took a long time to switch over sometimes not switching over at all. So i replaced the switch thinking that was the problem, now no lights come on the switch except the red neutral light when i start the truck. When i toggle between the switches it sounds like its turning over??? but im not sure. Anybody know what the issue can be?

Please do a "service 4wd" search on this forum.

There's by several threads created and a few potential areas that could be the problem, with part numbers listed.

In my case it was the encoder motor reluctor wheel (I think that what it's called?) About $20 shipped from RockAuto...takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours to replace. Not too bad.
