Dave / Geotrash,
Thank you for the awesome amount of information that you have posted on the DOD/VVT delete. I have been reviewing your Oct 2021 post where you did the DOD/VVT delete with a Cam Motion cam. I compared it to your Oct 2023 post where you listed the parts for a DOD delete...
I'm good with keeping VVT if that's an easier solution. I'm less concerned with performance improvement just want to get rid of DOD and the risk of catastrophic failure.
Has anyone written a set of DIY instructions for this? I've searched but can't find one. Tons of great information over many threads but I'm hoping for an assembled set of steps to walk me through the project. THANKS!
The other day I went to my local ACE Hardware but their inventory is depleted especially on the larger stuff. Today I went to my local Fastenal and they ordered bolts for me that are supposed to arrive on Monday. Those will be 15mm shorter than the stock bolts (150 vs 165 mm) but the correct...
Joseph - I went to GM Parts Direct.com and no luck finding the bolt. The exploded parts diagram shows the body mount bolts, shows the crossmember, but does not show the bolts for the crossmember. I clicked on the crossmember thinking that it would have the bolts included but they are not shown.
I just went out and pulled one of the bolts out of the crossmember. They are M14 bolts x 165 mm. I don't know thread size but suspect that they are 2.0 and the bolt is Grade 10.9. There is a shoulder (washer like feature) under the bolt head and the nut also has a shoulder. The bolt has 70mm...
I saw those bolts but was not sure if they are the proper ones. Size looks right but was really hoping that somebody had a definite correct part number.
Hey Wes. I'm trying really hard not to take out the y-pipe which entails removing one or both 02 sensors plus you know the three bolts that connect the y to the exhaust manifolds will be rusted, probably break off, and create their own nightmare. If the darned bolts were installed with the...
I am about to replace the transfer case on my 2012 Yukon Denali XL 1500. To do this, I will need to remove the crossmember that supports the transmission. It has two large bolts on the drivers and passengers side. On drivers side, the inner bolt will hit the transfer case so it will probably...
Can a person change out the chain in the BW4485 without totally removing the TC from the vehicle? Specifically, can you remove the front drive shaft then remove the front cover and through that approach replace the chain?
Hey Folks!
At 200,000 miles my 2012 Yukon Denali XL has a lot of clunk going on in the transfer case. It is easily traced to the transfer case by individually grabbing and twisting the front and rear drive shafts; the lash in the chain is very obvious.
I see rebuilt units on EBay for $995...
