L86 to L8T in '19 Yukon XL Denali

Here's the results, I did ask about octane and even with the lower compression they recommended staying with premium. I figure the extra few bucks per fill is fine by me. They did end up pulling some timing out as it wasn't making any additional power. Another thing to keep in mind is I'm at...

Still running 91, I figure after the dyno I'll decide whether or not to drop back to regular, which for me is 85 :puke:. Had to bump back the date to next Tuesday due to scheduling conflicts, but I'm pretty stoked. It drives pretty good as is, but getting it fine tuned should make it feel much...

It's been a bit since the swap, wife REALLY likes the better torque. She didn't think about it while trying to turn left through an intersection and had to gun it, squeeled the tires and scared herself a bit, hahaha. I did end up swapping the driver side valve cover back in to utilize the built...

Still couldn't get ahold of Kevin, but I think I found one of his tunes posted on the hptuners forum that I copied the fuel and spark tables from. I need to schedule some dyno time to actually get it tuned.

Figured out the evap codes, one of the pins was bent and wasn't seating where it should, was able to bend it back and it looks like those codes are gone. I've got some misses at idle still, so I'm going to swap all of the L8T coils on since they're newer (wires and plugs are new)

They look to be the same size, just figured I would try and use the newer one. Took it out for a test drive this afternoon, can definitely feel the torque difference. Brakes work just as well as they did before. Got the codes narrowed down to p0443 and p0458 which are both evap related (the...

She lives! Got it fired up and had quite a few codes - definitely had to change the throttle body back to the L86 one, still have a few more codes to figure out, but it started and ran for the first time in over a month!

All assembled! Time to fill her up with fluids and install the initial tune! Planning on reinstalling the valve cover covers after verifying everything looks good as well as giving this dirty engine bay a bath :puke:

Just about got this wrapped up. Ended up smashing the purge valve solenoid connector so had to make another stealership run. For vacuum I swapped the L86 driver valve cover over and tied into the old PCV valve port on the intake. I took apart the old hose and reused the connector on the brake...

Ran into another little snag. IF you are looking at doing this swap, compare connectors on everything that integrates with your harness BEFORE dropping the L8T in. I elected to keep the L8T oil pan in place rather that pull it and reseal (with my luck it would start leaking a week or two after I...

This is true, the bell housing bolt pattern is slightly different from gen4 and prior. Instead of the 6-7 bolts (2 on each side surrounding the dowels, 2 further up on the angled portion and maybe one at top center) there are now 8 bolts (2 from oil pan, 2 on each side surrounding dowels, 1...

Bolted right up, need to keep the original flexplate due to ring gear tooth count difference though.

Mounts are in and trans is mated. Just replaced the passenger motor mount so I still have the one parts store special on the driver side, but I didn't feel like swapping it out since it is fully installed. Didn't realize the harmonic balancer was a one time use TTY bolt, so have another one on...

Note to self, just stick with OEM parts. Motor mounts were bad and I didn't pre-order them so I picked up a set from the local parts store. I ended up fighting them all day trying to get all of the holes to align as well as the little tube on the bottom to slot into the frame...no dice. Put the...

Pulled the motor out a tad, saw that the dowels were being self clearanced by the block and proceeded to sand them down and put some axle grease on them. Set the block back in place and the gap was smaller, but still there. Based on the dowel condition, the fact that the converter still freely...
