Thanks, it's not the technique that's the problem. It was the abs block with corroded valves from sitting. Verified the brakes stick only after the RR inlet valve activates with a scan tool. Then deactivated ABS with both fuses and it doesn't drag on a test drive. My theory is the stuck and...
While we're here. Anyone got a trick for these rusty flare nuts? Idk why GM decided the ABS module should be here this close to the floor. I feel like a flare nut will just skip and strip it.
Well I couldn't get any more air so I went for a drive and the brakes were fine BUT my initial problem of the brakes staying engaged after hard was still present. To be fair almost everything needed replaced anyway because the car sat with my father in law for 2-3 years with brake fluid that was...
Of course. What I mean is I prefer to use a kit with hoses so I can be sure no more air is circulating. I prefer this over the "plug ports and pump until air stops rising into reservoir" method since it never works for me. BUT, when I am done, I remove the hoses and install the provided plugs...
Just a quick update:
Over the weekend I received a replacement master cylinder and an ABS valve block. ABS valve block is put to the side but on hand in case I need it, can be returned for full refund.
I bench bled the master cylinder perfectly until no compression (realistically just a teeny...
It's all good. I used the rod from the original booster in the new one once I got them apart. Doesn't really matter because I have another thread open where the brakes are unbleedable after replacing the master for some reason. Got another ACDelco master cylinder bench bled and on the truck...
And there's no adjustment so I'd have to remove the pushrod and trim.. maybe with this amount of preload they designed it to not cover the bypass port. Just seems odd since it's like 1.4mm preload. You have a gmt900 with hydroboost? If you ever get the time I'd love to know if you remove the 2...
Hey everyone. Just wanted to report back that I finally used an air hammer to separate the original booster from the original master cylinder and they also have the same preload. Anyone here has experience with the hydroboost? I've only ever worked on vacuum boosters and this is a big no no but...
Haha I was the one with the gap. Unfortunately it is the right parts so idk why they didn't fit together neatly. It was ACDelco 18M2564 for the master cylinder and the booster is Bosch 0204777579. I ended up pulling out the rod on the booster and removing material until it was just .030 gapped...
