    K2xx alternator upgrade on GMT800

I sold my GMT800 Tahoe many months back, but I'm still into GMT800 trucks and have been for quite a long time. My wife's truck is a 2005 Suburban Z71 that is currently sitting at 245k. Original 5.3, clean as can be, oiled every year and washed regularly. Couple of Friday's ago, she leaves for...

22” SGM wheels with Toyo A/T on Empire Beige Z71

Apologies if there is a consolidated wheel thread or if this combo has been posted before. Very pleased with these wheels on my 24 Z71. Wheels are the dealer option SGM 22” Gloss Black. Tires are P-metric 275/50R22 Toyota Open Country AT3s. The “monochromatic” look of Empire Beige and Black...

    2021+ Wiper Arm Conversion (Pinch-tab to J-Hook)?

On my 2024 Tahoe, as I would assume most of you have, the wipers are the pinch-tab style. I've noticed the T1XX Silverados have J hook wiper arms, as did the previous generation K2XX Tahoe/Yukon. Coming as OE equipment on the K2XX Tahoe/Yukon and T1XX trucks, the wiper blades are refillable...

2023 Yukon XL Windshield Wipers periodically stop working while driving

Has anyone had any resolution to this?

The engine on the Yukon I got as a replacement for the Yukon that got two engine replacements needs replaced. Yes, you read that correctly.

Do these newer 6.2s also call for 0W-20 like the 5.3s? I wonder if stepping up to a 0/5W-40 Euro or even a 5W-30 would have any bearing on the lifter lifespan? I mean the cst of a 20wt isn’t that low so I can’t imagine that’s the magic cure all, but just curious.

Which flavor of “LS” do I have after replacement

An 08 LC9 would’ve been a 9.9 CR aluminum 5.3 achieved by flat top pistons and LS6 heads (799/243). As I’d not expect the dealer to install any run of the mill reman engine and flash a different calibration from that of which the VIN calls for, I would only expect them to have put a reman LC9...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Started this past Wednesday -- on the 2005 Tahoe Z71 with the 6.0 swap. Wanted to refresh the cooling system and add an oil cooler. Lowered the front diff down a few inches, pulled the front driveshaft. Pulled the new K5L e-fans and snaked a new GM genuine (from an Escalade) oil cooler line...

Dorman 62340XD engine oil cooler lines "Improved Design"

I am wanting to add the factory oil cooler to my 2005 Tahoe, including a new thicker radiator with the oil cooler. I like the design and idea of the Dorman, but I think I am also going to just go with the OE GM lines.

    K5L Fans on GMT800

It is regulated voltage control. The PCM regulates the alternator output... it's why sometimes you'll see less than 14 volts or over. When there's a high current demand the PCM has the alternator ramp up output to compensate. There was some discussion/thinking around that a RVC equipped...

    K5L Fans on GMT800

Those are the old part numbers, 15780796 has been superseded by 1580881, 15780795 has been superseded by 1580880. I bought both from Amazon and they were the Bosch ones I posted a picture of. Been working great. I will still make a video at some point... been slacking working on getting the...

2001-2006 Z71 running boards loose? Broken rivets behind cladding

I searched on here (briefly, but did search) and didn't find much about one condition I've come to be a familiar with on the 2001-2006 Tahoe/Suburban Z71 trucks... loose running boards. The Z71 trim includes a factory "nerf-bar" style running board. These running boards are very securely held...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

While I was doing my running boards, my passenger side Z71 cladding has always hung low. Took it off to find the cladding bracket missing some of the 1/4 rivets. Also found most of the 1/4” rivets holding the top of the running board mounts to the rockers gone. Spent the after noon re-riveting...

What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

My OE z71 running boards were starting to oxidize and peel paint in certain spots, not to mention the amount of rock chips on the front. Pulled them off and ground down the corrosion with a fine 3” blue fiber wheel on my 12v mini polisher. I’m going for looks good 10ft away, not a show...

    K5L Fans on GMT800

I’ll have to hunt my local junkyards. Maybe if I pull a few I could make a couple bucks.
