Can you tap into the window switches illumination wire to work off the ambient light sensor so added lights come on at dark? I'm adding pin lights in the door panel storage and pull handle. Does anyone know which wires in the window switches are the illumination wire on the 08 Yukon

My good man, you gave me the answer to the question I have been searching forums for over a week trying to find the answer to. I can't thank you enough. I can't upload a video but the lights dim with the dimmer switch and cut off and on with the auto setting and the ambient light sensor. You, Fine Sir, are a God of Relevant Information.

The question I would have, will the circuit support the additional current draw?
So far so good. The pin lights in the door panels don't draw much. My meter read only 5 volts on that wire so it wouldn't run the 6 strip footwell LED lights. For that I had to trace down the wire from the BCM that runs all interior backlighting in the dash, hvac, stereo, etc... It puts out a full 12 volts and I put them on an in-line 10 amp fuse. Left the lights on with a battery charger connected for 4 full hours and found no wires that were hot or any other signs of trouble. I'll be keeping an eye on it for the first week.

I did this exact same mod to my 2018 King Ranch but with it I had less trouble. Ford left the gear shifter select bulb out of the center console to save money. The harness however was still there. I got the bulb from my local dealer for $12 and it had 2" of red and black wire between the long, slim bulb and the connector. I tapped into those 2 wires and ran the exact same LED setup off of that for 2 years with no problems. That connection also allowed me to control all lights with the truck dimmer switch and came on with the Ambien sensor. I recently sold that truck back to a dealer and got this Yukon.

What I want next is to figure out a mod for heated and cooled cup holders if anybody has an interest. The ones from the Chrysler Sebring look about the right size.....

Thanks. I appreciate that. This site is awesome and that manual is gold. I had no idea. I got this Yukon mainly just to have something to do mods on. Keeps an old papa busy when the grandbaby sleeps.
