Lane assistant really bad

Hey all
I drove a Hyundai (Sonata I think?) And I absolutely loved the self driving capabilities of this car, it's basically advanced lane assistant and adaptive cruise control,
it literally drive itself, day or night, curves, you name it!

my question is why is the 2023 TAHOE high country so far back on this technology? It's Lane assistant is just none-existing ...
So lame of chevrolet to be so much behind of Korean cars from technology perspective.

Is there a way to upgrade the lane assistant on this car to be better??

I have a 2021 Yukon Denali and have turned off lane assist as it's more annoying (fighting me when I pass on a 2 lane road) than useful and....

I suspect it was involved in an un-commanded braking action at 65mph while towing on a busy 2 lane road that scared the heck out of me and frankly, I viewed as dangerous as it could have caused loss of control if roads were icy.

I love the rig but not the software.

My commuter is a 2017 Honda Accord Touring and it also has lane keeping that makes it essentially a self-driving car until it beeps at me long enough telling me "steering required."

GM doesn't use a system like that - it's more of a last ditch correction if you get distracted and go too far out of your lane. There is no way to improve it - other than to option up to a higher trim level that gets you SuperCruise.

It's Lane assistant is just nonexistent.

Although I personally lack Anti-Lock Brakes, Brake Force Distribution, and features of that mechanical type,
many of those types of features
Traction Control / Stability Control (adjustable settings!), Forward Collision Avoidance, Self-Parking, Pedestrian Saviour
were installed into ME decades ago; I bring them into ANY vehicle I drive.

I also honk my horn whenever a pedestrian walks in front of any vehicle I drive without looking before crossing.

If the car can drive itself, what prevents it from stopping YOU from driving it.
I see a new form of assassination becoming a thing ...

Not out to bash GMC, I love my 2021 Yukon. But based on my experience so far, some of these feature DO stop you from driving the way you intend.

My un-commanded braking event was down right scary. I don't want the rig braking without my consent - but it did with no warning!. Unless the car is correct 100% (99% is not OK) then to me, it's dangerous.

I don't share my driving with any passengers and certainly not with a 99% correct (1% incorrect) camera/software system.

Fortunately, I can turn the feature that caused the breaking off but I seriously question the design quality as it is at the 2021 Yukon level.

I say go buy that hyundia then, all these nannies are crap in my book especially with the way I drive all I get is seat buzz, light flash, alert, etc, etc
so all of that stuff just gets turned off. Lane keep is crap unless the street is very well marked which is rare so it's useless.
I will occasionaly look at the mirror to see if there is a blind spot detection but at least that's non intrusive.....
the way to improve it is to turn it off.

I totally get that human driving has many flaws. Do a search for 'phantom traffic jams'. Sometimes it's a wonder anyone gets anywhere.
That said, I am thoroughly unimpressed by the vast majority of driving assist tech, especially after *stability control*.

*Stability Control* is actually one of THE major reasons why I won't drive a Doy-o-duh.
GM stability control is not trying to stop the car like Doy-o-duh's does.

The development of these technologies should NOT have been aimed at the average civilian idjyt.
Until the tech's performances regularly exceed the capabilities of a paramedic with multiple Emergency Vehicle Operations Course certifications,
I NEED THE ABILITY to SHUT THAT SCHIDT OFF, or I will not buy the vehicle.

If I am too tired to drive myself, I am too tired to let the car drive for me anyway.

Chevy dealer sent me about 150 miles to swap Suburbans with his sister. I saw the gismo on the steering wheel and thought I would give it a try. Leaving here is a big wide 4-lane that strangely would not allow activation of the system but farther north on an old 2-lane it was OK. I was prepared for a weird intersection coming up where southbound is straight but my northbound lane makes a "D" to assist merging traffic. Suburban held same 65 MPH and tires began to slide until I touched the brake pedal. Now I'm sure I don't want it. ^^^^^^^ driving pattern is annoying.
Some people would rather look at their phone than the road and this will satisfy them "to the scene of the crash."

I have a 23 Yukon and a 23 2500HD, both are the same trim levels. The lane departure is like night and day between them. The Sierra's is more what I would expect, when you get close you get the warning and it tries to correct what you are not doing.
The Yukon, the lane departure on it and Super Cruise are 2 different beasts, our lane departure stopped working, but Super Cruise still worked. Super Cruise requires the road be mapped using LiDAR, so if no one has mapped it, or the roadway has changed, Super Cruise won't work.
GM's Super Cruise doesn't use the lane or fog lines, they can be worn out and Super Cruise will still work. Super Cruise uses a combination of LiDAR, GPS, sensors (Find where fixed references are, thus why the road has to be mapped), camera (Uses AI to see if you are paying attention), and Cellular triangulation and map signal. Super Cruise does have some limitations, mainly not being able to use it on City Streets.
I use it on long trips, I would never recomend anyone fall asleep, or play games, etc, while the technology so far has worked as it should, I still operate under the guise that technology is never 100% bug free, so always be prepared to take over if needed.

Collectively, we're domesticating ourselves / each other by looking for responsibilities to delegate to machines that don't perceive or understand things the way we do.
We know and understand the bugs in ourselves far better than self-driving tech knows,
much less understands its own bugs.

Point is they should be testing this stuff with rail transport first.
When it outperforms humans consistently, THEN they can START trying to take me out of the driver's seat.
But that tech won't succeed before it can outperform EVOC-certified instructors reliably.

'Rich people who are never rich enough', are NOT going to hold this tech to those high standards,
and THEY WILL BALK as they always do when the time comes to pay the price for its shortcomings ...
leaving us to cover and absorb the difference.
