I honestly really do appreciate your help and suggestions. The fact that both my pioneer units are not displaying an imagine in reverse in my escalade yet they both work with after market cameras just tells me that the radios are ok. I will focus on wiring even though Ive checked and checked and checked some more and nothing helped.

Is there a way to by pass pac module and run a wire directly to reverse light under dash? If so, which wire and harness? I believe some where in the bcm?
it could be the reverse signal power is not working or is not providing enough voltage to make the radio show video.
there should be a reverse signal wire at the bcm or at the lower left kickpanel.
check the gm upfitter guide they have halfway decent wiring diagrams and should show the reverse signal wire location
you could also use a meter and see what the voltage shows from the pac module when you put it in reverse, not sure what the minimum requirement is for the radio
but.. I thought you posted above>>"Plug in the OEM radio again and back up camera works."

You are correct, with the oem radio which is what I'm running now, the back up camera works flawlessly. Its a very odd situation.

Why not wire a keyed hot for the camera signal? He could toggle the camera on/off whenever he wants. I'm having the same issue with my Pioneer. I never bothered troubleshooting it. Getting lazy in my old age. All I get is a black screen when I go into reverse.

If there is a Best Buy close to you that does car audio installation maybe check with them. The Geek Squad or installation guys at my local Best Buy are pretty good, seem very well trained and experienced plus they do a lot of Pioneer. Not sure if all Best Buy installers are this good but they might be able to troubleshoot that for you.

I guess each person can set it up however they like I prefer for it to just work as designed. I don't want to be pressing buttons or flipping a switch for a move that is already being performed when I shift to reverse.
a person could get a direct reverse signal wire from the bcm instead of thru a module.

what I would do in either of you guys case is test the reverse voltage and if that is good then check to see if there is a actual video signal or not, but I have things that accept video input to do that. if you get a black screen on anything else that accepts a composite signal then the camera ccd is probably bad. ccd is a sensor that provides the video it's in every camera out there, it's works like a human eye. or there is a break in the wire somewhere, which you could possibly determine with a ohm test.
and you could do a test on the headunit by feeding it composite video from any source like a videocamera (with 12v applied to the reverse trigger wire)

having messed with a lot of electronics for a living if the video signal is corrupted, not the correct (hertz), grounded out, too weak or something then you will just get a black screen (no signal) or it could be fuzzy, washed out, dim or anything
