97 Yukon power is always hot at the cigarette lighter receptacle
and is a problem because my Dash Cam and GPS had to be unplugged to turn it off when I shut the truck off and plug back in when I started the truck. Without have to running new wires here is a very easy fix.
I found a fuse that would only have power when the truck was on or when turned to accessory, I then blew the fuse for the lighter, ran a jumper wire from the new fuse "On or Accessory" to the side of the lighter fuse that was not hot that was going to the lighter. DONE!LighterHack.jpg

what kind of ends do you have there? I want to swap my 12v receptacles in my dash but do not know how to unplug and take those apart. I want to put USB ports there

Honestly if you need a power receptacle that is on only with the key it would be simpler to run 1 wire to that receptacle then to do this.

I think I'd just continue to push/pull the plug in to or out from the lighter jack, as needed.

I could call it a "switch".

I also might not have powered a 25A circuit from a 15A circuit. You never know...
