Im in the process of bringing my new to me escalade back to life, Ive pretty much sorted everything mechanically except for a p0420 I keep getting. Im in CA and thanks to the CARB a replacement cat is astronomically expensive, I found someone on marketplace with a y pipe out of a 2007 Silverado for 300$. Would the Silverado pipe fit the escalade? Ive pulled up some pictures out of parts catalogs and they look 99% identical.

I think the 6.2L has a larger diameter pipe than the 5.3L. If it's the same part number, then you're good to go. Other than potential diameter differences, the mount up should be almost identical

I think it was @992dr that had a thread about the Y-pipes being different, other than just diameter... but I have slept since then so I may be wrong.

Ask the seller to wrap a tape around the exhaust pipe. Take that number and divide by 3.14.

After moving the decimal around you should get 2.75 or 3.0”.

Between 07 & 09 on the Denali & Esky they changed the design of the Y pipe 3x. Since you’re potentially swapping 07 to 07 you should be golden.

The only thing you’d probably want to ensure is you’re not getting one off a 4.3L or 4.8L. The 5.3L or 6.0L will probably be a match.

I feel your pain. I may need new CA cats too. Occasionally, it’s not the cats, it’s a bad ground…
