Wheel spacing

Hey yall. Got 2005 tahoe i just bought. Its got 275/65 20's on it with factory chevrolet wheel and 2 inch spacers. Stance looks great oh its also been lifted. Was just wondering if its safe to drive like that and will they still work if i removed the spacers. I mean that big of tire and wheel

@OR VietVet may be able to talk about tire sizes on that year truck.

Regarding spacers, you want to be sure that you are using hub-centric spacers (versus lug centric spacers). Many folks use spacers, and I hear little about any disasters through their use. Keep in mind, though, from a physics point of view, the 2" spacer puts a lot more rotational stress on the ball joints than a stock setup, so you need to keep an eye on the condition of your suspension parts. @Trey Hardy should have some input for you on lifts.

Yes, my opinion on wheel spacers, DO NOT USE THEM and DO NOT LIFT THE TRUCK! A whole can of worms and stresses. Going back to stock everything will cost money but still less of it in the long run. The only "performance" I have done to my 2005 Tahoe Z71 is, a traditional tune by Black Bear Performance and bolting on Hellwig Performance Sway Bar kits, front and rear. Woke up what was there and stuck it to the ground.

Probably did the spacers so the tires diddnt rub the control arms I know especially with stock wheels or no offset wheels that 11.50s and 12.5” wide tires like to rub on the upper control arms
I’ve ran 2” spacers on 6 different trucks daily driven and long distance trips once a week for work with no issues
Main thing is to get a quality spacer (mines actually from Amazon I think rough country’s tbh) and ugga dugga the lugs good so you don’t have em come loose down the road. If you look at my profile pic I run 24x14s on 15.5” wide tires with 2” spacers with no issues I ran 4” spacers with 37/13.50s on 14 wides on my old Silverado with no issues

Only looks like a leveling kit in there also as long as it ain’t maxed out the ball joints should hold up ok really the 12-14” wide wheels is what eats ball joints but ever since I swapped to kryptonite ball joints I haven’t had any issues they make some super beefy suspension for the 99-06 if you ever go to do front end work I’d highly suggest going that route over moog or ac delco
