Question for the group. I am in the middle of replacing the 6l80 transmission on my 2012 Tahoe LT. I know for 2014 to 18 they have a thermostat to keep the transmission fluid cooler question is is there a kit that can be added to the 2007 to 2014 to cool down the transmission fluid? I'm having to replace the transmission due to the torque converter failing and figure while I'm here might as well see if I can keep it cooler. Thanks in advance for your help.

The thermostat actually does the opposite. It's intended to help the fluid warm up sooner and stay above 180ºF or so, but it's proven to create more problems than it solves. Many owners of the K2xx generation rigs delete the transmission thermostat to prevent heat-related problems.

the 2012 does not have a thermostat......nor the option for one unless you retrofitted one in. which would be counter productive.
you can bring the temps down a little with some mods like a deep transmission pan, tru-cool 40k.
as long as you do not live where the temps dip REALLY low in the winter it won't ever be a problem with running cooler
heat kills....... period, unless your a rattlesnake.

I have a '12 and really don't see how I could get a deep trans pan on without dropping the exhaust system ! Lots of work and would have to do it each time a filter change was due.

I Agree with the above. Deep Pan, external cooler, better radiator, etc
are all good options. You trans overheated due to the converter going south...
That's what created extra heat..
If you replaced the trans and used an upgraded aftermarket converter, you should be
fine.. The best thing you can do is have your transmission "tuned" by HPTuners or Blackbear
or Reputable tuner who can get rid of a lot of the BS programmed into our
6l80e's...
Do you have a factory external transmission oil cooler ??????????
If not, you could just add a factory oe replacement cooler and that will help.
Mine has been sitting on a shelf for a while as I upgraded my trans, trans pan
and added a fan forced external cooler
