Cargo Door Ajar

I Purchased A 2001 Tahoe LS With The Barn Doors Recently And I’ve Had The Hardest Time Trying To Figure Out What Causes The Door Ajar Light To Periodically Come On. At First I Thought Maybe I Wasnt Closing The Doors All The Way As To Me Noticing That The Light Would Come On More So When I Would Accelerate But, Now It Comes On With Just About Each Bump In The Road And I’m Lost As To What It Could Be. I’ve Went Through Opened And Shut All Doors Locked Them And Tried Opening Them From The Outside To See If Any Would Budge And None Of Them Do. Ive Also Came To Realize That When Starting The Truck And Putting It Into Gear It Does Not Lock I Have To Use My Door Button To Lock The Doors, I’m Not Sure If That Has Anything To Do With The Door Ajar Light Or Not But I Thought It Was Odd. Any Suggestions As To What The Issue Could Be Is Very Appreciated Thank You.

Welcome to the forum from Virginia. It sounds like the plunger or door contact is failing or has a loose connection. Check it and it’s wiring.

I have to go with what @Big Mama said. That is the obvious place to start. Sometimes they gum up and they don't move freely but can be removed and use some spray to clean. Also check the connections where it plugs in, for tightness and clean.

It’s Just Something I’ve Always Done, Even When Writing On Paper. My Teachers Hated It When I Was In School, But No Matter How Hard I Tried To Write Normal I Found Myself Going Right Back To Capitalizing Every Word.

I Will Try That Next, Thank You. I Did Figure Out That My Drivers Side Door Hinges Seem To Be Loose, I Can Lift Up The Door As I Go To Close It I Ordered New Hinges So Hopefully Thats Works If Not Your Suggestion Is Next On Ny Check List.

It is not a problem by any means but I had to ask. The worst is when people post a response or question and it is one long sentence that has several lines of uncapitalized words and no punctuation and very bad spelling and that makes it all very hard to figure out what is being said. The other is when they will share info but it is not in chronological order.

I disconnected the contacts in the rear doors and I still get the light and the auto door locks switching on/off. The only way I could get the switches to stop switching was to pull the fuse for the auto door locks. That stopped them but the light is still coming on. I was told that the BMC may be the issue. Has anyone ever heard of that?

Something that might point to the cause is to use a good bidirectional scanner on it that can read body codes (that's after you hook up everything again).
