Hello All,

I went shopping tonight and loaded my groceries into the truck open and closing the power liftgate from the key fob. Worked perfectly like it always has. When I got home I got out, pressed the button and the lights flash but the lift gate did not open. Got in the drivers seat to try from the over head button (it was in the On position) and tried to do it from there and nothing happens. I can manually lift the tail gate and the power locking mechanism seems to be working but the lift gate won't to go up or down using the motor. I know for sure its not the fob, what else can I check???

When you push the button, do you hear anything close to the lift gate? Does the lock latch unlock? Does the lift gate motor try to run?

Ordinarily, the gas filled support struts fail on these lift gates, but the lift gate will usually start to lift, bit then stops.

@bigdjatom416 Did you ever get this figured out? The liftgate on my '13 Escalade ESV has the same exact symptoms... Nothing shows up on a scanner at all?

@Joseph Garcia When I push the button from the fob the tail lights blink but nothing. No Noise, no clicking, no movement, no attempt to open, nada.

Also when the lift gate is open I've tried pushing the key fob to close the lift gate and same thing; No Noise, no clicking, no movement, no attempt to open, nada.

When I put my hand inside the rear lift gate handle it unlocks and I can manually lift open and close the lift gate and that operation seems smooth like normal.

Any ideas on what I can trouble shoot to determine which part needs replaced? I'd prefer to have some sort of direction before I just start throwing expensive OEM parts at it till it works.

I had the same problem on my 16 Tahoe 3 weeks ago, but I heard the lock unlock and then nothing happened.
I then replaced the liftgate and since then everything has worked as before.

But the fault was announced to me because it was already making strange noises,
Where did you bring the truck to get the liftgate fixed? I’m having similar issues and wasn’t sure if it should go to Chevy or any repair place.
