Good morning everyone. I have a 2022 Tahoe LS that I bought a few weeks ago. It has a manual lift gate. I’m 6’4” tall, and I’m constantly having to duck the edge of the lift gate when it’s opened. The lift gate cylinders are fully extended when opened. It just isn’t high enough for my height. Anybody else run into this ? How did you solve it ? Can longer cylinders be used without damaging the lift gate or body.

seems like you have tall guy problems lol. Vehicles are designed around average height people with a standard deviation. You’re outside that. If they designed it to yoir height than the shorts wouldn’t be able to reach the handle.

From my understanding there are no aftermarket or oem lift actuators that will lift it higher. Learn to duck lol.

Add a lift and big tires!

Seriously though, not sure. I know that on my automatic lift gate on my '23 Yukon I can set the open-height lower than the max setting... and it would be interesting to see if your fully-opened height is the same or lower than my max height...

When I lowered my '09 Tahoe, I almost cut my head open a couple times when I wasn't used to the lower height of the tailgate. I suspect that you're just going to have to get used to the height of yours.

go back to a GMT800, since 2007 the lift gate height has been lower, be careful not to hit the corner edge then you will get a unfriendly reminder

One of the main things I prefer about the older trucks is BARN DOORS.

ABSOLUTEY NOT. The lift gate will only go so far before body contact. Since the top is not metal you will bust something for sure. I have the same problem with another non-GM car and I learn to live with it.
