I just heard of a special screwdriver/bit today that is called JIS. Because I do work on 4Runners and FJ Cruisers for a couple AL and VFW friends, I monitor forums for them and the special tools came up in reference to screws for a MAF sensor. I ordered some bits at ebay. Inexpensive.

Beware of the quality..... I'd check MAC or Snap On..... If you use them a lot...

I had checked with my shop owner friend and he has a 2 screwdriver set and a 4 bit set labeled VESSEL. He said that quality is good. I did look at Snap On and Mac Tool and found no JIS listings. No more than I would use them, I feel like I will be good. I have a Mac Tool 123 bit set and there is no JIS bits in it.

Hate to think how many phillips screws I tore up before I found out about that JIS stuff, and got an impact driver to get them loose on Hondas, etc.
These are new to me. I just ordered some.

The thing that gets me is that I was all for Phillips screws replacing slotted screws, and now I find out that these are even better.

Torx and star bits have always given me more trouble than I thought they should; by twisting, and by snapping pieces off.

Valve cover gaskets, fill spout and 5w-30 cap parts coming today for an AL widow for her 2005 Tahoe LS 5.3. Gonna do all that this weekend. Should be very straight forward. Mostly clean up that will take the time. This is the same Tahoe that the owner had bought a lot of my still good take off parts when I went thru my Tahoe. This one is the Indigo Blue one. Is at about 195k miles and runs great. It is a pleasure working on this truck. She fixes what I tell her needs fixed.

Oil change, Wednesday, on a 2015 Chrysler Town & Country mini van 3.6. Used to be neighbor but still uses me for work. He recently bought it and "helped" me install new struts on the front of it after buying it.

My favorite taco place is a bar that serves them on Tuesday and Thursday and has some regulars. One of them called me today about his 1998 1/2 ton express van work vehicle that has a stuttery cranking rhythm but when eventually starts, it is fine. Sounds like is a moisture in distributor cap problem. I told him so and he will look. I said if it get to where you want me to look at it, he has to take the inside engine cover off and reinstall himself. Not gonna be responsible for a beat up work van that has had a rough life for 26 years.
