I tried searching here and I have googled it, can’t seem to find any answers.

Has anyone replaced the 7 pin trailer plug that is in the receiver hitch? I have no idea how to get the damn thing out!

I’ll try to upload one. It is mounted into the receiver hitch. I initially thought someone had cut a hole and rigged it, but my wife has the same tahoe(2016) model and hers is the same.

I believe that's the same as on my '04. I replaced mine with a Hopkins 40920, which is PnP (for mine), primarily to have the 4-pin socket, too.

On yours, if there's a "button" where I've circled, push that in and turn the plug CLOCKWISE about 1/8th of a turn (if I recall that correctly) and pull it out. It's a twist mount, and that button pops up through the hole to keep the plug from turning once it's installed.

You may need to disconnect the wiring harness from the backside if there's not enough length to pull it out far enough.

That Hopkins replaces the factory plug?

Yes, plug and play for mine. You could double-check on etrailer.com, but I think the backside connectors are the same, depending on your year. And this one gives me a 4-pin for the trailers with only lights.

Friction fit, they twist out. Then you can remove the plug from the back and pull out the wires for cleaning if you need to.
