I had the hood and roof redone for $1500 in 2023. Now I need to get estimates for the sides of the truck as the cracking is starting on the upper doors and fenders. I bought a little time by wet sanding with 2000 grit and compounding some of the areas.
I have the same issues with my 2018 Suburban. It started in 2020 but Chevy would not help me due to my truck being over 36k. Like my mileage has any effect on my paint…. I have created a Facebook page blasting GM. Please visit it and share your stories with the world. https://www.facebook.com/share/15nPndmyf4/?mibextid=LQQJ4d

Man, I hope my fenders and upper doors don't start this cracking but I guess it's good to know. I am getting my roof/hood repainted starting Monday Dec 2 and the cheapest estimate I got was $4100 with windshield replacement (around $650) since they take it out anyway and I have had a chip for years.

I opened a case with GM for this issue and they are kicking in $200 toward the repair. That's laughable. But what I understand once I get the work done, they will re-reviewing my case and they may provide more compensation.

And if you don't know, there's currently a Class Action lawsuit working it's way through the courts as we speak. So I'm hoping either GM steps up now, or covers the repair through the class action lawsuit. I have included some links I found in my research.

Hope this is helpful. I will provide updates along the way.

I am having the same issues with my 2018 suburban that GM denied warranty back in 2020 because it had over 36k on it… I have created a Facebook page dedicated to anyone who has GM paint issues. Thanks for mentioning your Facebook page. I will look it over and post my experience.

Bottom line, we pursue and support the Class Action lawsuit to get reimbursed for the paint repairs. That's where a real solution will be found in the end.

You guys park outside, or in a garage mostly? Sunlight on black is brutal.
