Just had my 6l80 in my 2019 Yukon rebuilt .98k miles. Wondering if I got taken to the cleaners on the build.

$4,864.70 is what an owner of a GM 6SP trans hopes to pay for by an Indi tech. You are at par for what you paid. If time shows no issues in the next 100k miles, then you got a smoking deal.

I paid $5k for mine to be rebuilt by the Indi diesel tech vs a GM rebuilt unit for a few hundred more.

If things go south, I knew I wanted him checking his own work rather than GM saying “sorry, due to Covid, hurricane whoever and whatever national disaster, we have no parts to rebuild your trans under warranty.”

In 30 days the trans did let go and he rebuilt it again. He knew it was the pump and said he had a feeling about it, but it still spec’d out during the rebuild.

During the first rebuild I spent another $1500 on labor and parts sourced from RockAuto to remedy other deferred maintenance …

* Oil pan seal
* Oil pump O ring
* Rear main seal
* Motor mounts
* Front diff mounts
* 1/2 trans shift cable
* Exh mani gaskets
* Oil press sensor
* Drain, fill front, rear diff and xfer case.

By having the trans out when doing all that and sourcing my own parts, I saved about $2500 vs paying labor when trans was installed.

I’m coming up on 190K miles on this 09 Escalade. It’s 6.2L gets serviced well because it’s only $75 to fill up on e85 vs $140+ with 91. 400hp on 100+ octane e85 on a budget is a win.
