I have a 2017 GMC Yukon Denali 4WD with 62K miles on it. We recently had the entire transmission replaced due to a bad shudder. Now that the shudder is gone, it seems like we have some noise somewhere in the suspension. Couldn't hear it before. I just had an inspection done at a local mechanic. I am still under CarMax warranty, but wanted another opinion.

The sound is hard to explain. Kind of like a grumbling sound/scraping sound. Even when loading and unloading the tires, the sound persists, so I don't think it's a wheel bearing. The sound is constant and is more noticeable when turning. The car is always in 2WD.

I can hear it most driving low speeds through a parking lot without all the road noise. But it happens at speed as well.

Issues that the mechanic found:
  • Rear pinion seal leaking
  • Front struts seeping
  • Front lower shock bolts and lower control arm bolts were loosened and re-tightened (sound still persists)
Could any of the issues the mechanic brought up cause this issue?

Any ideas on what this could be?

A worn out shock could cause a noise, once a fair percentage of the oil has leaked out.

Not sure I understand the sound being described? If you think it’s a shock/strut/suspension issue, try bouncing on each corner of the vehicle to see if you can replicate the sound while outside of the truck. It will also potentially eliminate that it is a suspension issue. To me, a grumbling/scraping sound at low speed would be a wheel bearing going bad.
