I also bought this sister truck today. 2008 Tahoe LTZ. 177k with service suspension message ( we all know that’s compressor and auto ride shocks probably) and 2 TPMS sensors out. It’s had the transfer case and motor mounts replaced 2000 miles ago, so that’s 2 of the most notorious issues already done. It has minor body damage to the right rear quarter. I got it for $4800 which imo is a great price, since around here the NBS are going for that much. The leather is still nice throughout; carpet not so much. I ordered Husky liners since they have a good rep here on the forum. It feels great to have 2 running vehicles again. There’s a few things I’ll fix up on it ( the HVAC buttons need new labels, common problem, headlights are hazy etc) IMG_3593.jpegIMG_3594.jpegIMG_3595.jpegIMG_3596.jpeg) but mainly I’ll just drive it and most likely sell it later after I fix The Beast.

I think I can make that rear quarter look way better. After a closer inspection, I see it’s just the plastic bumper that’s damaged. The sheet metal is fine. I’ll see if I can use a heat gun to help the indentation reform, and i think I can get it to clip back together at the seam where it clips to the fender. If I can get that seam to pop back together, the damage will pretty much disappear. The right running board needs to be pulled back out from where it currently sits. It looks like something hit it in the front.

I fixed the backup lights. They had installed my LED bulbs backwards. Easy fix. I let him know so he could inform his helper about reverse polarity. The camera still has an issue, but I started messing with the Tahoe I just bought.

If you remove the bumper cover and boil a big pot of water and pour it down inside the area where the damage is you will be able to push it back out where it should be. The hot water is much safer than the heat gun as it is easy to hold that heat gun in one spot for too long on accident.

Is it actually an LTZ or did someone put the emblems on it?

I ask because of the running boards and the side molding not having chrome on them.

It’s an LTZ according to the VIN. The running boards are aftermarket replacements I believe. I actually am the person that hates chrome so I’ll be looking to replace the mirror covers and door handles with color matched. It looks like I’ll just paint them myself like I have on my other rigs since they want a fortune for used painted ones in silver birch. I have a set of handles from my Silverado that I can paint. Thanks for the idea on the hot water. Is that cover hard to get off?

No, it comes off pretty easy.
