It has been a month and still no word on a replacement engine for my 2023 Tahoe 6.2. My wife and I are now thinking of looking at the Ford Expedition or the F150. I pull a 6500 lb camper and when the engine seized we were almost killed because of the traffic. GM doesn’t seem to care. I have been an GM person for a long long time. Opinions, please.

Have you researched the vehicle lemon law for your state?

No I have not. I really no not have another 20 grand available

You should research the lemon law for your state.

Many states enable the vehicle owner to obtain a refund or a new vehicle, if the vehicle qualifies.

I have gone through two lemon law repurchases from GM. One I used an attorney and one I presented myself in binding arbitration (and won).

Same thing happened to me in 2022. Engine blew up on my 15 Yukon and I still owed a good amount on it. It heart breaking.. At some point I decided to just own it and take care of it myself.

I bought an Ebay L86 (6.2) for 3K and rebuilt it. I had never touched a GM engine before so, this was a first for me. I used a L83 cam because it's cheaper. Works great.

They come apart and go together easy if it's any consolation. I spent some $ on Hp tuners and had to learn how to use it. That was the most difficult part to be honest. The trucks are way to work on. And they're reliable when you rebuild them with the non-afm parts. I can attest to this because my wife wasn't able to blow it up again. (heh)

Good luck with whatever you decided to do.

Sorry everybody I’ve just went to the dark side. I went out and bought myself a Ford expedition because I’ve been told another engine will not be available for 2 to 3 more months and the way GM is treating me with renting cars so on and so forth, I’m done with GM after 40 years. Thanks everyone for all your help. I hope I have good luck with the expedition.

Good luck.

Did you ever research your state’s vehicle lemon law?

I sold my Ford Expedition Limited 4x4, purchased new, due to the repeated poor quality, lack of parts from Ford, and repeatedly poor Ford dealer service. I bought a new 2024 Tahoe Premier 4WD to replace it. My family continued to own other GM vehicles.

The Expedition was my first and last Ford. I have owned GM vehicles continuously for 50+ years, since my first vehicle; a 1965 Chevrolet Chevrolet Malibu 2-door.

Yes we have . Also, the Better Business Bureau. The biggest complaint we have is GMC customer service. when I had a problem with my Yukon during the GMC strike, GMC took care of us like you wouldn’t believe fantastic. Now it is just the opposite don’t want anything to do with the company that treats their customers like that let you know what happens with the Ford.
