Can anyone tell me what this connector and the smaller one just below it are for? I just bought 2008 Yukon XL Denali and the wires on the connectors are cut and taped up. I don’t know why they wouldn’t simply unplug them vs cutting. I haven’t found anything that doesn’t work yet, but I’m sure GM put them there for a reason….Thanks!

Welcome from SoCal. I miss our 08 YXL Denali with a 2nd row bench. Congrats on getting one without AFM / cylinder deactivation.

That is the unmolested OEM plug to the heated washer fluid mechanism. It was recalled and the dealers usually chopped that connector off.

Lucky you. If you want you can install an aftermarket or one from another vehicle that’s actually designed better. They’re great at getting those crunchy bugs off the glass.

The button for it is still on your center console by the cigarette lighter. It’s an 07/08 only thing.

In view of what @petethepug posted, it makes sense from the dealer's perspective to cut the wire instead of just disconnecting it, as that will prevent anyone from simply reconnecting it and undoing the recall.

I was bummed that the dealer totally destroyed the harness on my 08 so I couldn’t add an aftermarket unit.

The trucks with the option wired and programmed for it from the factory have a timer integrated and some versions give a beep and alert on the message screen of the dash / DIC when the kettle’s hot and ready to use.

Hey @OR VietVet , off topic here but, thanks for the RockAuto discount code in the supporting vendor section.
No problem. When you want a discount code, just do a "search" and type in just discount code and then do the search and several threads will pop up. I always post in the one that says, "Post 'em Here for others to use". I try to stay ahead and post the codes as soon as I get them from RA.
