This is my first ever GM vehicle. I'm reeling with the news that my 6-week-old SUV has a special TAC service request attached to a lifter failure in piston 7. The tech is now saying it might need a full engine replacement. I'm going to go deep into these forum's, but was wondering if anyone one reading has advice for me. The dealership says no lemon law until they try to repair it three times.

Just unreal.
You should research your state’s lemon law. While it’s true some laws require multiple attempts to repair by a defect dealer before the law qualifies the vehicle as a lemon, most laws also have a provision for a minimum number of days out-of-service to quality as a lemon. Thirty days is common.

I'm in the same boat at 16,000 miles. No eta on engine. Nothing of substance from GMC. Are they waiting to see if a recall is forced? With on the backlog on engines, hard to know what that would even mean?

A recall would not lower the time that the manufacturer would provide a replacement engine.

I had a safety recall issued by Ford on my 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4 with the potential for a cabin fire, and the part took one year and one day to arrive at the dealer, after it was ordered for my vehicle.
