2007 6.2 165k Yukon , sons truck, heater hose fitting broke, he overheated it, then not long after while out of town it over heated again, water pump failed.

A couple months go by, oil pressure switch failed, should have put in OE not a standard. At some point it seemed to be getting lower, hot and cold, 20 hot I would say.

Pulled pan super clean inside blocked plug, replaced Oring super loose. seems it was strong again, month goes by seems back to 18-20 hot, noticed oil leak coming down both sides of bellhousing, pulled intake found valley cover bolts not tight, replaced gasket and orings. Oll pressure under 20 hot. havent checked for leak.

All has sounded fine but now thinking it overheating 2x if it pushed out a cam bearing , anyone overheat then find worn/loose cam bearing? thanks I am hitting the search forum.

Any odd noises?
20 hot is still fine. I would worry if it starts dropping lower when hot.

honestly if it's 20 at a hot idle you're doing really good. I wouldn't think twice about it. especially it oh pops up quickly with rpm.

if it was a cam bearing, you gotta pull the whole engine out to get to them, so at the point you'll be replacing anything that could be hurt from low oil pressure anyways.

mine is 15 to 20 psi hot which is normal with 5w30. No issues. 199k miles.

If you want higher oil pressure run a higher viscosity oil like M1 5w50 or Valvoline 20-50, or even a 60w.

Pics of the truck, please.

You are already receiving sage replies from the knowledgeable folks on this Forum.

I've got a new oil pump and O-ring, and a new cam on my 155,000 mile motor. My oil pressure at hot idle is 20-25 psi, and 40-45 psi at 2500 rpms.

If you oil pressures are similar, then I say you have no problem.
