I am getting a new 2013 Tahoe SSV (Special Service Vehicle, Police Package, not pursuit rated)

I assume it will not come with remote start - can it be added - does anyone know the part number(s) for everything needed?

Can I add the GM accessory heated seat kit to it?

Has anyone added the backup sensors and what parts are needed?

Can I add a factory looking rear backup camera without having a NAV radio - and what parts are needed?

Prefer to add using GM parts, not aftermarket.

Anything else I should add, while I am thinking about it?

Any help provided will be appreciated.

c5corvette,

Hello. With a 2013 Tahoe Special Service Vehicle, it is not standard but a remote vehicle starter system can be added. The Regular Production Option code for this option is AP3.

I hope this helps.

I already have the vehcile - can the GM system be added after the fact (I dont want aftermarket crap)?

Also, can I add any of the other items I was asking about?

Remote Start:
If you have the AP8 code on your vehicle (check the glove box) you can add the remote start option by purchasing the key fobs and the vehicle label. You can then go to the dealer and have it programmed to your vehicle. This is the next thing I might do on my PPV

Back-up Camera
So you want to have the back up camera but not have the factory nav? Do you want to replace your radio with an aftermarket double-din radio? If so, you can either purchase an aftermarket camera or you can purchase the OEM GM back up camera. There are tutorials on the forum on how to wire the GM camera and where to buy the video adapter as well.

If you dont want to get an aftermarket radio, you can buy the rear view mirror that has the screen it.

So I have some people telling me to activate remote start I have to buy the "kit" that comes with the key fobs, decal and 'activation code' - from there I am told the dealer they have to call the tech center with my code and for $75 the tech center will create a new program (VCI) file for my BCM. And then the dealer wants another $140 to touch the vehicle with the Tech II.

Others are telling me to just buy the 5 button remotes on eBay (with matching FCC ID) and just find someone with a Tech II to program them to the vehicle. Will that work, or do you need this damn activation code and special programming file from the tech center?

While on 2011+ newer Tahoe's you can't program your own remotes from the DIC anymore, that doesn't apply to Police & Fleet Vehicles.

I have the option and successfully programmed new key fobs and they work.

However, when I do the remote start sequence (LOCK, PAUSE, START) all I get is a blink of the turn signals and a relay click - the starter does not engage.

Do I still need to visit someone with a TECH II Scan Tool?

Someone HELP???

How'd you get your hands on a new SSV? Ive seen new ones for sale but they say a police department or fire department has to buy it.

I have seen some for sale that just stipulated Law Enforcement/First Responder credentials. Ebay has a couple currently.
