Was at the Wal-Mart buying carb cleaner, when I saw a bottle of k-seal. Figured, why not?!
Started up the burb, waited to make sure a wandering car repair magician didn't happen to stop by and fix it while I was asleep (waited for it to start steaming out the tailpipe), and poured in the k...
To my knowledge it hasn't, but I've only driven it a couple hundred miles.
From what I've read, putting gasket sealer on top of the gasket was before the FEL pro metal and rubber gaskets were used. I did put some a half inch up the the top as directed.
Before I started the repair I checked...
OK, let's review my symptoms chronologically, without rose colored glasses on.
-oil leak from front of intake
-may have lost coolant internally, really unsure since it was new to me.
- seemed under powered
- no overheating. In fact I always thought the tempo seemed low.

Then I "repaired"...

That's what I'm hoping concerning the heads. That they aren't the issue. Just wasn't sure if I should take the time to address any future issues while I'm that far into it.
I used new fel pro bolts that had sealant on them already.

What I don't get use that I didn't have any steam coming from the tailpipe before I changed the intake gasket. How do I tell if it's intake vs heads?

Close! I thought I'd popped the intake gasket, but it was one of the heater control valve hoses.
I'm not sure about the steam from the tailpipe. It runs great, good response and power. Stand for awhile, then stopped. Not sure if it's going to keep doing it, only time will tell. I did use...
Checked it again this morning. No smoke. At all. No steam. Nothing.
Went for a careful drive. Nothing. Went for a spirited drive. Nothing. What the heck? Could the weather really have caused that much steam? Could there have been that much condensation in the exhaust system? I'm baffled at...
Before I parked this thing to work on it, it didn't smoke at all. Now however, there is an excessive amount of steam coming out of the tailpipe. This is after running for 30 min and driving for a couple more.

Sorry for the bad camera work...
So what do you think? Head...
OK. I was able to figure out why the sensor was not functioning. It didn't have any of the internal parts! And me being the idiot I am, didn't check it before I installed it.
That problem is fixed, no more codes!!
But wait, there's more...

It's alive!
Except it's kicking a throttle position sensor code. It also hesitates when you throttle it up from idle. Also spits out a bit of smoke too.

I know the bracket is attached to the steering pump somewhere. I just stuck it on the bottom[emoji23]
So close!
Changed the plugs and wires while I was in there. Some were not tight at all.
I need a few additional parts. Anyone know this intake seal part number?

Got the distributor in. "had" to buy some new tools. [emoji12]
Uh oh. What the heck did this come from??! Too much time has elapsed since I took this thing apart.

I'll try to look down into it with a light. I need to buy a longer screwdriver, none of mine are long enough.
However, it's a new distributor and any marks I had on it were removed when it was soda blasted.

Hmmm...
Lower intake is installed, new bolts tightened to specs. But I'm having some issues getting this new distributor installed. Any suggestions on how to turn the oil pump? I could get it seated all the way, but I'm not sure it was aligned properly. Best way to to tell if the housing is...
Got the parts back from the soda blaster guy. Looks pretty good for $50!
Engine is clean (ish) and ready to be be assembled.

Ok. Admittedly I'm an idiot. I was reading about some quick cleaning methods and put both the upper and lower intake in the dishwasher... With dishwashing soap. Now both parts are oxidized like crazy. What I need to know, ASAP, is if these parts will cleanup properly, or do I need to go to pick...
