I would start by doing a quick double check of the air flow to the throttle body. Clean filter and the intake air duct isn't cracked anywhere. Also that the exhaust isn't partially restricted. Can do that throwing a vacuum gauge on the intake manifold. (FUEL TRIM DATA is your best friend!)...- M1Gunner

What happens is that the rollers inside the CV joint wear a groove where they ride. So when you increase or decrease the angle of the axle, those rollers now roll in a different path. Heat shield from what exactly? The exhaust is on the complete other side. So what exactly was the source of heat that the tank was being protected from? -

Climate controls going haywire
Unfortunately, when these issues begin to happen you will have to replace the HVAC head unit to resolve these issues. All you can do is thank the failing head unit for the previous 10-15 years! -
How bad is this oil leak?
@Michigan Bingo, brother! Key on engine off and oil pressure is still pegged means that there is an open in the circuit, 9/10 its internally in the sending unit. When you go to replace it you can verify by checking the resistance of the sensor with a multimeter. It'll read OL if it's gave up...- M1Gunner

But yes that oil could be coming down from your oil pressure sending unit absolutely. As far as your gauge reading, the sensor itself may be shorted or you may have a harness issue OR as @Rocket Man mentioned your gauge motor may be shot. Key on, engine off... what does the oil pressure gauge read?- M1Gunner

Did you have your keys cranks up at one point and recently lower them? If it's only when you're turning that your hear this popping noise I feel very strongly that it is your CV axles.- M1Gunner

Broken 2nd row chair
One of the release cables on the underside is probably at fault. Either the end has become insecure or the cable itself is stretched or fubar'd. I may be wrong but that's what it sounds like. -
