Crank, no start - '01 Tahoe

Sorry to be slow with updates. I didn't get any email notifications about the replies. I blame Gmail. No codes to my knowledge. I don't know what all has been tested. Our conversation have centered on fuel system. I shared by worries about fuel pump; I assume he tested fuel pressure, but I...

Crank, no start - '01 Tahoe

After eliminating my misfire issued with a new fuel pressure regulator, I have now moved on to a new mystery: my Tahoe died in traffic. It would crank, but not start. No codes that I know of. It is now at the shop, and they are still struggling to find and fix a cause. The shop thought it...

    Might be time to upsize

I need advice on Suburban/Yukon XL years to avoid or seek out. My current ride is a 2001 Tahoe, that I bought to be my hunting truck. I like its simplicity and utility. My wife drives a smaller SUV. We have determined that there are some instances where we need something even bigger, so I am...

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

I am tentatively declaring victory. Over the last couple of weeks, my Tahoe has taken longer cranking to start, and would run rough for a couple of seconds before hitting its stride. Combined with the fuel pressure data, this definitely seemed to confirm fuel delivery issues. Yesterday, I...

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

It dropped faster than it took me to walk from the driver's door to the engine compartment. I looked at the fuel pressure regulator while I was checking injector resistance. It looked relatively new. At least it looked cleaner than everything around it. It may have been replaced at some point.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

You win imaginary internet bonus points! After a mere 5-month delay, I finally got around to borrowing a fuel pressure gauge from Autozone and hooked it up today. 50 psi, ignition on 44 psi ignition off 50 psi engine running Looks like a fuel pump in my future.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Quick question. The connectors look pretty well sealed down into the pigtail. Is the test while running done by piercing the wires? I pulled all the connectors and tested while stopped. All of them metered between 12.5 and 12.9

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Thanks. I'll do some research on this.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a multimeter. When I have some time, I'll give this a try.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Thanks for taking time to comment! The only codes I have seen have been P0101 and P0300. The intake manifold gaskets were just redone, and anti-knock sensors were replaced at the same time. Since then, the truck has run pretty smoothly. I have seen P0101 a couple of times (new AC Delco MAF...

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Thanks for the insight. I'll ask how the intake manifold looked when the shop was doing the work. I'll look for places downstream from the MAF that may have any sort of a leak. I have considered replacing all of the rubber and plastic pieces in the intake path.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Well, the saga continues. The MAF code returned, so I took it to the shop again. They detected an intake manifold leak this time, as well as knock sensor errors. Both repairs were done, but I still get the MAF error. They are puzzled. I guess whatever is the ultimate cause is indirectly tied...

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

I don't drive it much, but it has been trouble-free since the new one went in. That is a welcome change. I am happy not to spend time trying to rack misfires, swap coils, check for air leaks, and visit with he mosquitos on the driveway.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Update 5/29/21: I finished replacing all of the spark plugs, and thinks worked pretty much the same. I had a local indie shop take a look while doing an oil change. I filled them in on the whole history. Basically, they found nothing. Their experience is that intake manifold gaskets are...

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Update 2/26/21: Sorry for the gap in reporting. What with a week of freezing rain, then a transmission failure, it has taken me awhile to get back to my misfire hunt. Up to now, the misfire has been a problem on cylinder #4, with a couple other misfires here and there. Today, I didn't bother...

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Thanks for the info. I am not able to read fuel pressure using Torque, so that aspect is a mystery. I have new plugs, and I'll report any changes after I install them. I also have some fuel trim graphs to post, but work and trees breaking under ice have me a little tied up.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Thanks. I'll try to collect better data. Tonight I mostly was just getting the display set up for the app. The little bit of info I got doesn't sound alarming. Nothing over 10%, and combined LT/ST under 5%.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Thanks. I just took the cold observation on the driveway, let it warm up, then made a run to the mailbox. I haven't had a chance to collect FT data on the road, yet. I have not looked into fuel pressure yet. I have not ruled out plugs, wires or coils. We'll see what I get done over the...

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

I did a little data collecting when I made the mail run tonight. Here's what got for LTFT when cold: Bank 1 7.81% Bank 2 5.47% STFT was 0.00% on both banks when cold. After 15ish minutes of running, LTFT was this: Bank 1 -0.78% bank 2 -3.12% STFT when warm varied between 0 and 5% I now...

That's a really good idea. I'll add that to my to-do list.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Thanks! I'll try to do that today.

    P0101 + P0300 = ?

Thanks for your input. I appreciate the thought that you and others are putting into my truck. I can see fuel trim info. I have not reviewed it, mostly because I'm not sure I know enough about what values I am looking for. I'll read up a bit. I am fairly certain that I did not check all...
