    If it was the wheel nut wouldn’t it also allow play in the 12 and 6 position?

    I can definitely try that, but how do I make sure or how can I make sure that that’s what is causing the problem and it’s not something else in the steering column? Could it be something other than this nut?

    I have not. I have no idea where to begin to look for a fix. Are you saying to remove the steering wheel and torque a nut?
