There is a fuse underneath the dash, towards the engine firewall that controls all the back lighting on the instruments. If its loose or blown your back lighting will not work. I had the same problem with my 09 Yukon. Took it to the dealership. They found that was loose from the connector...
Installed a set of LED tails, and the blinkers go into hyper mode. I went to V-LED's and a GM flasher unit. Does a 2009 GMC Yukon have a flasher unit? If so, where is it located? If not not, what can be done to solve the hyper mode?

Look for LPS Electronic Contact Cleaner. It works good for cleaning up gummy residues. You might have to take off the face plate, and get inside and scrub with a soft toothbrush to clean up the contacts.
