    08 Tahoe Vibration - SOLVED

Thank you for following up and I'm glad it worked out for you! I've come to expect that despite the money they charge, very, very few dealers are equipped or willing to take the time to do a proper diagnosis of anything. There's too much money to be made by prolonging the problem while throwing...

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

I completely agree. There will always be a market for a heavy duty SUV option in the US. I'm sure that in the boardrooms when the auto manufacturers were planning their future fleets 10 years ago, it felt safer to invest any available capital into EVs and improving SUV fuel efficiency, given the...

    Towing Heavy Transmission Temps

I suppose this gives me a reason to finally take the shrink-wrap off my MPVI3 and hook it up to my computer and Yukon. The tune in my 2012 was done by Blackbear and I also still have a copy of the stock tune files.

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

Yeah the brakes are NO JOKE on these. Very confidence-inspiring when towing, too. I’m looking forward to reading about your shock upgrade! Can’t go wrong either way as far as I can tell. And 73K is a good time to replace the factory shocks on any HD rig.

    Bad Thermostats

This was happening to a friend of mine with a later model Jeep as well. Dealer replacements were lasting 3-6 months. But the most recent replacement was 18 months ago and all has been well since. My only explanation was COVID parts. Maybe you keep getting old stock? Might try buying one from...

Build thread - 3.08 to 3.42 front and rear gear change

Yes. Texas Speed makes some good VVT cams for these engines. That said, I deleted VVT when I did my cam upgrade on my 2012 and haven't missed it. I get to drive my stock 2007 with the L92 (has VVT) back-to-back with my cammed 2012 all the time, and the difference is really stark. I'm running the...

    Towing Heavy Transmission Temps

All good thinking. Some observations to add that seem relevant: There is only around 1K difference in weight between our campers. Mine is also 32' long and they likely have a similar 'sail' areas, which generates most of the drag that the driveline needs to overcome. I have no data for this...

    2011 Escalade 6.2 l94 DOD/VVT delete

I used Blackbear Performance for this service and it was a great experience because they could send me tweaks to the tune based on live running data recorded on their Autocal device through a prescribed drive cycle. I don't think mailing out the ECM would get you the same sort of tune...

    Towing Heavy Transmission Temps

Wow...no wonder you went back to NA. I would wager that a switch to 3.73 would keep you in 5th more. And 4.10's, fuhgeddaboudit - you'd hardly ever see 4th. The Suburban 3500HD is interesting to have alongside the other two to compare. The 6.0/6L90 spends 95+% of its time in 5th pulling the...

    Towing Heavy Transmission Temps

We have the same transmission cooler, I believe (in my 2012 XL Denali, not my suburban 3500). I usually run in 4th on the highway, pulling 7500 lbs at 65 but my transmission runs 15-20° cooler in mid 90’s ambient temps than what you’re describing, except when pulling up a long grade, but it...

    Post New Transmission: Infamous Clunks

Thank you, Tom. Very helpful. I now have HP Tuners but haven't removed the shrink wrap from it yet. This gives me some helpful insight to get started with.

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

Picked up the camper today and stopped by the CAT scales. Got a reading with just the Suburban with a full tank of gas + me with my father-in-law on board, plus some tools in the cargo area. Then got a reading with the camper hooked up. I messed up though and forgot to put it in neutral without...

    Chevrolet Suburban 3500 Questions

This thread has all of the answers to your questions, and the reasoning, in detail. TL/DR version: GM didn't pursue the J2807 towing test for the Suburban 3500 because its primary use was intended to be armoring. Yet it has the same frame as the previous two generations of Suburban 2500's with...

Yet another Yukon with engine tick and low oil pressure

Keep driving it. That's what I would do. The oil pressure on these is supposed to drop at idle. Both of mine drop to just above the 1/4 line at hot idle.

Getting spare parts - front differential, transfer case and rear end

On the differentials, as long as the axle ratio is the same (should both be 3.42 if they're Denali's), then they should be interchangeable. The transfer cases should interchange as well. Both my '07 and '12 have the BW4485.

Build thread - 3.08 to 3.42 front and rear gear change

Awesome! Congrats! FWIW, I have successfully bled all of the brakes on both of my GMT900's using the old-fashioned tube in a cup method, with no problems. Just had to have a helper to push the brake pedal.
