Hello All!
My 2013 Escalade ESV has the power running boards. I very much like them, and want to keep them working properly for a long time. Neither the owner's manual nor the service manual have any useful information (that I could find) on the care and feeding of these beasts.

Update on the Escalade...its a daily driver. I have put almost 5000 miles on it, and am loving it! It goes where I want it to go, and I am comfortable doing it. It just eats up the miles.
Shortly after I bought my Escalade, my wife brought me a souvenir back from New Orleans. I now have a...
Most assuredly! I had Black Bear turn off AFM, and set TCC lockup only in 5th and 6th gears. Good point. If the transmission goes south and the warranty doesn't stand by it, I will find the money to have it overhauled. And bomb-proofed.
Thanks!
Makes sense. I usually left it in 3rd when pulling the trailer. The GMPP HT3400 is stronger than the original 2.8L, but it is still a V-6, and the transmission is the original V-6 spec trans. Though I had it overhauled when I put the crate engine in. I have always tried to drive like I had some...
Excellent, thank you! Correct, I am running a 7-4 pin adapter. Lights on the trailer only.
Transmission feels great! Granted, it is not end of the world different, but it feels better. Shifts are tighter and firmer. More pronounced when I put my foot in the water pump.
However, now I am...
That loom work is beautiful! Is the woven loom the 'split PET loom' you referred to? The engine bay of my Escalade is lousy with brittle and degraded cable looms. I like your idea! Please elaborate on the materials you are using.
Thanks!
Ah! That makes sense. Thanks!
(Hmmm...maybe I should not be towing the aforementioned trailer anymore with my little '84 S-1 with its GMPP HT3400 crate engine and TH700R4.)
Thank you!
The more I read the owner's manual over and over again, it sorta makes sense. However, I am interested in the real world knowledge of you guys.
Hello All!
I have what is likely a VERY stupid question: what exactly does the 'Tow/Haul' mode do in my 2013 Escalade ESV?
I am assuming it alters the shift timing and characteristics of the 6L80E transmission?
I have read section 9 in the Owner's manual, it discusses Tow/Haul some, but I am...
I spent some quality time yesterday with the Tech 2 and finally found the Diagnositc: Ignition menu. On the way to work last night, I live streamed: vehicle speed, engine RPM, and knock retard. The results were a little surprising. Most of the knocks were at steady state, around 60mph and...
Sooo...I installed the Black Bear tune on November 15th, and datalogged a drive to work on the 18th. Because I am a slug, I didn't get around to sending the datalog back to them until November 29th. This past Wednesday, December 8th, they replied back to me. "...the data looks great here for...
No, the automated bleed process does not specify a pressure bleeder. In fact, it doesn't tell you to check the master cylinder until AFTER you are done with all four calipers. Which is bad, because the test at each caliper uses up around half the volume of fluid in the master cylinder reservoir...
For the first flush, I would say no. Flush it until you have clean brake fluid at all four calipers. Drive it for awhile. Plan on another flush, then do the ABS bleed. You will need PLENTY of brake fluid. If your brake fluid is hateful dark, I would suggest at least 4, if not 6 quarts of your...
Soooo...back in post #34, I mentioned that there were O-rings I didn't use in the shift solenoid filter screen kit. Because I didn't know what they were for. Now I know. I was watching a youtube video from Precision Transmission on teardown of a 6L90E. Those O-rings are for the black plastic...
I took the advice of this forum and have been using Lubegard 23232 Synthetic PS fluid. A little pricey at $15/qt at my local O'Reily's, but it comes well recommended.
The Escalade hit 125,000 miles on Friday. So...oil change time. I like to do oil changes on my newer vehicles at 5000 miles. 125,000 is a good round number to start at.
Nothing really noteworthy. I installed a NAPA Gold 7045 filter at the suggestion of this forum, and refilled the crankcase...
