Engine valley is not as clean as I would like, but is not too bad.

Hello All!
I had been planning on refreshing the cooling system and doing the Big 3 electrical upgrade after Thanksgiving. Two weekends ago, while cleaning the throttle body, I found the front two VLOM bolts were finger loose. Sooo...add intake R&R to the To Do List.
Yesterday, I started in on...
Ouch. Sorry. I have been using vinegar for years to clean other things, so I am used to it. Definitely suggest nitrile gloves for you. Also, when I cleaned my windows, I had all the doors open. And left them open for a bit to air out the interior.
I am spraying it straight out of a small mist bottle. I wanted to see how it worked full strength and decide if I needed to cut it with distilled water.
I wrapped up the last of the annual maintenance for my Escalade this evening. New WIX 42488 air filter, lightly cleaned MAF, cleaned throttle body.
All good.
However...with the throttle body off, I figured I would check the torque on the front two VLOM bolts. There was none. They were pretty...
So far, so good. I work night shift, 7:00PM to 7:00AM. Yesterday morning, cold out, low angle sun from sunrise. There was almost no film on the inside of the windshield. Only places that I had missed with the wand. Because I suck at using it. So far, the vinegar seems to be working.
That is part of what I have been running into. I clean the windshield, it looks good to me. Sun hits it just right, or windshield fogs up a bit, and I see how lousy a job I did.
More slice of life updates for my Escalade:
-in May, I changed the front differential oil again. It had been around 2100 miles. Old oil looked good. I refilled it with conventional 80W-90 gear oil. Last night, as part of the annual maintenance, I drained the front differential again. It had...
I purchased a cleaning wand and terry cloth covers. I cleaned the inside of the windshield and front door windows with a couple of sprays of vinegar on the covers, then wiped the glass. Followed up by wiping the glass with a fresh dry cover.
I cleaned the outside of the front door windows and...
I agree, but I have not found a cause. I do not smoke. I rarely drive with the windows down, as I am an A/C freak. I rarely drive on a dirt road. 90% of my driving is on highways. She doesn't use any coolant, so I don't think the heater cores are leaking. I don't use 'Armor-All' type products. I...
Hello All,
I feel idiotic for having to ask this, but how do you all effectively clean your interior windows? Specifically the windshield?
In times gone by, I have used Windex and newspapers quite effectively in other vehicles. Nice clean windshield, no streaks, no residue.
On my 2013...
My 2013 Escalade ESV pulls like a freight train. I love the 6.2L!
It has spoiled me.
Definitely correct about brakes. I am looking at the 'big brake upgrade' next.
Bah. Do what you've got to do. I am reasonably financially stable now. But I have not forgotten where I came from. I cut my teeth on 'fixes' like this. Do what you've got to do. Thanks for the suggestion OR VietVet!
Thanks for looking!
I snooped around their website, and saw their section on ‘Custom Brake Lines.’
6 line set was $189.
Very reasonable money(at least in my head).
However, I got hung up on the required info.
They need lengths. And hose end types. Looking at the pull down menus, they have ‘3/8”...
Thank you for the insight! I grew up with and cut my teeth on rusty 1970's GM junk. Don't get me wrong, I loved them. But, I appreciate nicer things now. :D
The intake tract is all stock, other than a new WIX air filter every year. The MAF is stock, and has been cleaned. I will likely replace...
'fraid not. She is still languishing. I am currently stuck on fabricating new cunifer brake lines from the ABS pump around the engine bay to the calipers. My Bend-Fu leaves a little to be desired.
denalilex, right now, @NickTransmissions has started a 6L80 thread and has 2 youtube videos up. I have started them. This is right up your alley.
Check it out...
Thank you NickTransmissions! I very much appreciate your offer. Please see post #77. I have changed my plans. When the time comes to pull and overhaul my 6L80, I will reach out to you.
Sorry I missed your reply the first time.
